Tires Rubbing issue

I was told by numerous people that I should be ok with 265/70/17 and they wouldn't rub, however there rubbing slightly on the inner wheel well cover, just slightly in mid turn. I am going to install a day star spacer body lift kit, should this resolve the issue?

What would be my other options if this doesn't work?

Read the bottom of this link, shows you how to adjust your fender liner (assuming the Daystar lift doesn't remove the rubbing)

Rubbing is pretty rare on this tire size, but it does sometimes happen. I also had rubbing issues with this size (rubbed on the wheel liner and the frame (even rarer)) I assume it is partially do to my alignment. I adjusted my wheel liner and added FJ crusier wheels and between the two my rubbing is now gone.

Sent the link for him to learn how to move fenders. Wasn't intended to give info about wheel spacers.

to the OP "Original Poster" get an alignment with new tires? That may solve the issue.

P265/70R17 should be the factory tire size, what wheel are you running? I imagine the offset may be causing the issue more than the tire size.

It's an SCS wheel, specs attached. I spoke with several owners of 4runners that had the same setup, but with different tires an no rubbing. I'll find out tomorrow with the lift being done.

[MENTION=138638]sgaustin83[/MENTION] Its your SCS wheels that are the issue. Lifting *should* correct your rubbing, might also require adjusting wheel liner as mentioned earlier.

Running different offset wheels moves the tire out of the factory "pocket" inside the wheel well and causes it to rub.

That makes sense, my bad. I thought the link was more for showing that if he installed wheel spacers it would probably rub more.
 
Today I installed matte black SCS Ray10 wheels (17x8.5 -10mm offset) with Falken Wildpeak AT3 265/70/17. These tires are known to run just a tad large for the size. I also have the Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift.

I am am getting some rubbing when turning the wheels. I'll have to ask the wife to crank the steering wheel so I can mark where it's rubbing and clearance.

I am surprised that it's rubbing with the lift and the modest 265/70/17 tires.

it looks awesome however!

I had a bit of rubbing when I intially installed those, especially when I had the spidertrax on (Similar offset I think to your SCS wheels)

The tires are fantastic so far, I have about 6k on them

Yes, my set-up would be just about equivalent to the OEM wheels with 1.25" spacers and a 265/70/17.

The only additional consideration is that the Falken AT3W tires run a hair wider/taller than many tires of that size.

I'll be clearancing this week (I really hope is just the front fender that's rubbing and not the mudflap as I won't want to lose those).

Mine was pretty much just the fender. Occasionally on sharp turns under compression I'll rub the mud flaps. My FJ wheels are only ~1/2" instead of your 1.25"
 
Ah, so mine are pushed out 0.75" further than yours are. That certainly doesn't help.

I was under the impression that I wouldn't have any rubbing problems since I have the Daystar 2.5/1.5, but it looks like some clearancing will be necessary. Good thing I didn't go bigger than 265/70/17!
