TJM Snorkel for 5th Gen?

Does anyone have any information about a TJM Snorkel for the 5th Gen?

I see a couple photographs on the net and it looks pretty good. Much smaller than the ARB that runs down the entire fender.

I looked at TJM website but do not see it listed?

I saw this last year and wondered the same thing. I’m guessing they used a prado snorkel, but I’m guessing and would buy one tomorrow if I knew they were for sale!

I just finished all the research and made my snorkel purchase. I found Prado 150 snorkels will "fit" 5th gen 4runners. But that being said, although our fenders are similar they are not the same. I would rather invest my hard earned money into a product I don't have guestimate fitment on the fender and will sit clean with no ugly gaps.

Another thing to consider is the prado 150 is a turbo diesel (for the most part). A induction system engineered for a completely different engine might not be so smart. Idk I'm no doctor.

But if you want to look sleek and a slight bit different from the crowd by all means. But for me the pucker factor is already high cutting into a fender with a product designed specifically for it. That's why I went safari. For what it's worth I personally think the safari looks rugged af.

I was at ExPo West and saw the snorkel in person, it was definitely much more compact and sleeker than the Safari. Spoke to the rep about it as well. He didn't have too much info about where I could purchase it from but did give me a brochure with it on the 5th gen and a card of his. I'll see if I can find his info and the brochure.

From the photos it seems to fit the fender well. I would like to see some installation photos and instructions and know what the piping inside the fender looks like.

Two differences i see between the subject and my truck are that i have a radio antenna and i have a baja flat rack. I dont “think” either would be a problem:wacko:

It's a snorkel, Function > Form. I personally think the ARB Safari looks pretty terrible. Anytime I look at a side shot of my rig it makes me cringe.

However, it has worked really well for the trips I've done since the install. I just got back from Utah traversing a significant amount of dusty roads in a convoy of six rigs and my air box had very little dust in it. That's what really counts.

I would be interested to hear from an engineer as to how the design differences may effect the engine performance or durability. It looks to me that that snorkel gets really restrictive towards the top.

They quoted me $485, but that is before shipping from Australia. You can order from local vendors but you pay shipping AND sales tax. Roughly looking at $90 for shipping so $575.

Yeah yet another reason why this might not be a good choice. Form > fuction every time.

Looks and appearance are subjective. I like the way the Safari looks. Snorkels all over the world look pretty similar. They are not a fashion statement they are all function. If your building a mall crawler than I guess whatever.

I think that one looks like a wet sock draped over the corner of the windshield. It doesn't seem nearly as functional. It won't fit perfectly. You have to figure out the fitment. But to each his/her own. Do what makes you happy.

I'm deffo function over fashion but come on, there is ugly and there is UGLY. They'd be better off with a more oversized angular design with a smooth interior vs the look that you just picked up a leech from a water crossing!

The design of the one in the OP's post is better looking for sure but also that weird looking end piece looks lame too.. Surely someone has a keen eye in the R&D of snorkels, they look alright on an 80 series like they made an effort to make it attractive.

I agree that is the correct approach to a better matching snorkel for the runner.

While everyone waits for a company to possibly maybe make a snorkel, I'll be out adventuring with my 80's throwback fender leech. :rockon:
