To Weathertech Deflect or Not To Deflect

What are peoples preference on window deflectors? I had them on my Tahoe, and they did their job.

I got some off Amazon, since I had a $100 gift card, and I just can't get behind them. They're the in channel version. Only a month old, and already scratched/beat up looking.. I haven't seen any benefits from them, that would make me think they're doing something for me. Think I am going to take them off and trash them.

Anyone have any experience with the weathertechs, and have some notable benefits to having them?

In a honest blunt opinion if you are a smoker I see them having a function. Other then that ill just leave it up the individual

I had them in my '15, but didn't put them on my '16.

I will be getting them for my '18, as I plan on building it for camping, and the visors will allow my to have my windows down a bit with nets to keep out the bugs, and give me some protection from rain at the same time.

The only downside to the Weathertech deflectors is the front ones ar in channel and can sag if you live in an are with high heat ( the southern half of the US) and interfere with the windows going up.
The rear deflectors are 'in channel', but they use adhesive tape to hold them in place.

I tried em in my Tacoma once. In Louisiana they were nice cause I could leave my windows cracked when parked in the hot sun to keep my cab from getting 120 degrees and not have to worry about the rain shower at 2pm. Anyways I didn’t have any problems with the front ones but the tape on the back ones didn’t seem to last long and didn’t wanna stay in place when I rolled down my windows. I had one of the rear ones fly out while driving so I ended up taking em all out and never looking back. Wasn’t worth the aggravation to me.

I had them on my FJ until we took a long road trip and at 75mph the wind noise from them was unbearable. Took them off during the trip.

My wife had some on her Sienna that we just used around town. After three years in the Texas sun they were all brittle and shattered at the slightest touch. Ended up spending a Saturday trying to get them off her van. Wasn't fun.

I really don't care for them.

Only good for rainy cities to leave small opening when traveling.

Got them love them. I live in raincouver so its nice to get fresh air while driving and not get wet. They also look stealth and blends in with the body of the truck.

i have a set of weathertech in channel window deflectors and I like them.

It allows me to park my car with the windows slightly open on hot days to keep the in cabin temp down.

It also works well when you want to crack the windows open when it rains or when the interior windows fog up

I also keeps the sun from shining into my eyes from the driver side window, and I don't have to use the sun visors as much.

I also like the aesthetic appeal of them.

The cons are: the rear window one has fallen out on my previous vehicle, and once the double sided tape gets old, the deflector can rattle in the window channel. However so far so good on the 4runner.

I have Weathertechs and really enjoy them. They provide a bit of additional shade from the sun, allow me to have windows cracked during the rain, and I like the looks.

Mine have been on about a year and I’ve had no wear issues with them.

I have WeatherTech in channel deflectors but don't know what benefit they are as I don't drive with the windows cracked. They look kinda cool against the silver paint, but that's about it. They do increase wind noise some, so that is a consideration if you are sensitive to such things.

If mine get messed up I will take them off and not replace them.

Against my better judgment, I installed the WeatherTech rear side window deflectors sold by the Toyota dealer. These are the in-channel type.

Sure enough, here I am about three months or so later. I had the rear windows down most of the day. When I went to roll them up, I found that the stupid visor on one side had come unstuck.

So, I think I'm going to trash these and get some tape-on deflectors. Which is what I've used on all my previous vehicles. In fact I came over to the site to look for recommendations.

I found the Stampede tape-on window deflectors, for sale at realtruck.com. I wonder if anyone here has any experience with them?

Follow-up: I did buy the Stampede deflectors from realtruck.com. I only installed the deflectors on the rear doors as planned. So far they've been great, I have no complaints at all.

BTW, I took the Weathertech set back to the dealer, and amazingly they gave me a full refund! :dancin:

I have had the in Channel Weathertechs for 4 years. Never a problem. Key is to follow the install instruction to the letter, particularly leaving the windows up for the period specified after installation. Forget what that was.

My use is leaving windows cracked when parked in hot weather and when defrosting, to get better air flow.

Or those of us who sleep in the truck, and need to crack window for ventilation so the truck doesn’t condensate and freeze, or get too humid if it’s hot out.
