The total for today's snow storm 8+ inches. Too bad the Honey Badger is out of commission due to a broken driver's side window, and badly dented driver's door from my last off-road adventure. Fixes to follow --- SOON!

Thanks! I did use my wife's 05 Jeep Liberty to do some volunteer work. Pick up (during severe weather) hospital staff, and take them to work. Today's mission - an ER nurse who's Pontiac G6 couldn't even get out of her driveway.

Her husband and son were very happy that Mom The Nurse made it to work safe and sound.

I should have my replacement door in by Wednesday. Just need to swap the guts, and re-install it.

We just got 15" at our house on Saturday. Homewood says they got 27" (opening today and free today, but only the bunny slopes), and a guy I just bought another snow blower from in Truckee near the I-80 summit says he got 3'.

I'd like more, but it will come. Several neighbors went skiing last weekend, and our in-town resort opens tomorrow so I'll be hitting the slopes then.

Dry- when compared to how much we SHOULD have! I have a bad feeling that the rising temps are going to melt the snow.

Working on the thermostat while outside frigging sucked last week, but I was trying to get it done before the snow. I'm glad it's finally up above freezing, at least during the day.

In the 6 years we've been up here this is about normal. At our rental at 7500' the snow stays around the rest of the season after the first big snow after Thanksgiving. We have firewood and xmas trees up there, so I keep an eye on it. Hauling a 12' tree up the hill is a bit easier without snow on the ground, so we harvested ours the Monday after Thanksgiving and filled the 4runner with any dry firewood.

We'll get some big storms. It's those multi-day ones that dump 3-5' that set things up for a bit. Our average year is 430" (don't know exactly where that average is), so even an average year will be good.

To get snow like that, I have to drive 2hrs west. Around here we usually get 4" in one shot every second or third year. 8" at one time... it's been a few years.

We get ice, and we get it with regularity. I'll trade you some of our ice for your snow any time.

LOL! When we moved up here all we had was a tiny kid's snow shovel, which was enough for the September/October snow, but not much else. Luckily I got a snow blower, since a few months later we had 5' over a weekend that we were away.

Now days I don't screw around. Between the rental and our house, I have 4 big blowers and a little electric deck one. If anyone wants to help clear our driveway, I'll gladly let you use a big honda 1132. I'll take the 928 or the old 10HP MTD. (I was seriously tempted by a Unimog with megablower for $10k a few years ago)

But after a lot of ice on the ground during a week that stayed below freezing, I'd much rather have snow than colder temps and ice. Uggg

nope. id love it.
WORKING in it ****ing SUCKS. getting a car on the rack...and having to work under it while it drips all over me...that sucks.

but shoveling the driveway, driving, just being outside.....no issues. I could be out there all day, and love every minute of it.
