TomasAllan's Build Thread

Hey! you used to live at the Manhattan. I used to see you all the time and be so jealous of your truck! You've done a lot to it since I last saw it in person. Looks awesome!

Hello there, yes LOL.....

Did you ever stop and say hi? I remember two people doing that and one was a 4runner owner.... was that you?

Colorado Mid May

Hey gang I have a quick question:

For those peeps in Colorado, me and a couple buddies are planning a trip out west in mid May and are wondering if we do Moab (again) or just southern Colo.

What would be the experience that time of year and what places can we go have fun, Camp, potentially fish and hit a couple trails? somewhere REMOTE.

We are wondering if we want to hit Moab again so soon.

Any help, hints, advise would be appreciated (we did blackbear back in Nov).

Thanks.

There aren't any dust boots on the ball joints? Do they squeak after awhile and require constant maintenance. I've had heim joints on other vehicles and once they started squeaking/creaking it seemed impossible to get them to stop no matter how much they where cleaned and lubricated.

Totally confused now :-))

Hello, unfortunately a lot of areas will still have quite a bit of snow here in May. Not to say it cant be done...but some trails might still be closed or difficult to pass. Great build by the way!

How about the southern part of Utah/Arizona?

Where the WAVE is, not sure if that's how they call that fun looking wavy rock.

Anyone?

Nice looking rig! Surprised I haven't seen it out playing in traffic. [emoji1]

I'm curious, where did you end up mounting the Wired Wagon fuse/ relay box?

Haha, I am typically around Dunwoody/Brookhaven and from time to time head up 400 to visit and hang out with some friends....

Mounted it right behind the battery/main fusebox..... I'll see if I can snap a picture tomorrow and send over.

So finally bit the bullet and went for on-board air.

Went for the ARB Twin Compressor

Luke at 4x4Labs is now selling the compressor mount brackets, I think has some in stock already powder coated and all, direct drop in, no moving or modifying anything, all bolts and nuts included, mounting the compressor took 15 minutes, wiring on the other hand a different story :-)) .... I did not go for the manifold as I have no plans to run lockers.

Simple yet impressive work from 4x4Labs.

This thing is very impressive and fast filling up.

Additional parts were:

All from Amazon

AirPro PUR-14X50-B 1/4-Inch x 50 Foot Polyurethane 250 PSI Air Hose

Legacy A73457D Color Connex Type D 7 Piece 1/4 in. Red Coupler and Plug Kit

Amflo 150 12" Straight-on Tapered Chuck Inflator Gauge - 10 to 90 PSI

...

Can't remember exactly to be honest with you, all I know is that we cut and capped most of the stuff that has to do with lockers as I have no desire to do that so I didn't want all the mess and cables that come with it. Then we went straight to the battery with a switch (obviously) to activate the compressor.... I'll try to check in there today and let you know.

Great shots! Im hoping to tackle Black Bear this summer. How difficult were the switchbacks?

Not bad at all, just be smart and treat them with respect, specially the first one..... there is a small portion of the trail right before the switchbacks that you need to do very slow and take your time, other than that it was AWESOME.
