Too much rake. Now what?

I think the part number is probably a difference from when they changed from the old version with double stacked adjustment collars to the new ones with a single collar or something like that.

The fitment for 883-06-130 is 2003 - 2019. The same for all 2.5" coilovers for the 4Runner that I looked at.

The only difference between the shorter and longer version is the removal of a rubber bumper internally that stops the down travel at a certain point. Otherwise they're the same product. If you want to covert one to the other you'll just have to either remove the bumper or add it depending on what you're starting with and what you're trying to get to.

The front suspension is nearly identical between the 4th and 5th gen. They should use the same front parts throughout. There are slight differences in lower control arms and a few things - but they should be interchangeable. They all share the same spindle assembly, same upper control arms, same mounting tab spacing and location. The frames are nearly identical between the 4th and 5th gen. The difference in track width is just the result of different wheel offsets used on different models.

I think it would help if you measured the fender to hub center. I think the rear springs are a lot taller than 1.5" It's a tough job for a spring maker. If it's a pure 1.5" lift someone will put them on with a 500lb rear bumper and then complain that they're not getting the full lift. If they make them really stiff so all the weight doesn't sag them and everyone gets a 1.5" lift - then they're too stiff and people complain. If they're soft, then they're sensitive to weight and everyone gets a different amount of lift. You can't win.. :( I don't know anything about the coils you have. My guess is that they're giving you more like 3" rear lift based on the picture.

I have Dobinson's rear springs C59-725 that were originally advertised as 1.75" rear springs, now listed as 2.25" rear springs. I think 2.25 empty is pretty close to accurate. My front is about 2.5" lift also. I normally have around 100lb of gear in the rear "empty" - I always have a minimum "kit" of stuff like fire extinguisher, small tool set, big first aid kit, etc. I don't haul around a full offroad kit everywhere. I tried to maintain factory rake - it's important for things like MPG and break force distribution(if you don't do a zero point calibration it thinks "level" means a lot of weight in the back).

Here's an idea of how mine sits with about 2" of rear lift.

Surprised no one has mentioned double-checking the rear spring installation to make sure the springs are clocked into the perches correctly. It's easy to make a mistake here, and the result is way more rear lift than you're supposed to get. Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like quite a bit more lift than even the most optimistic SAW coils should give.

Jetboy to clarify, he said he has 2.0's not 2.5's. I only ref'd 2.5's because that is what I have (and SAW springs). The 2.0 IPF CO's are listed currently as different part numbers for different gens (I checked against 2007 and 2017 as I know th4 4th gen had a signficant mid-cycle refresh too), which led me to believe there is something different about them, either valving or spring. Thanks for confirming on the shaft length/bottom stop. I saw polyperformance stocking genuine fox 7/8 shafts from 6"-18".

Update: They did sell the rear 4th gen shocks, but apparently those are the same as 5th gen. The coilovers are correct for 5th gen.

I confirmed w/ the local 4x4 shop that fox does come pre-sprung. So either mine just didn't (that'd be weird) or...? What risk to I run of loading these up just a tad bit higher? I put my 33's on today and there is *a lot* of rubbing. i'd expect some, but this seems absurd.

I have SAW 1.5 and Fox DSC 2.5’s (0-2”) I’ve got a lot more added weight up front (~250#’s) and mine looks nothing like yours, although I could make it look exactly like yours...

Have you preloaded your coil-overs? It looks to me like you haven’t even adjusted them.

I've got about 4" of grooves so I could technically move the c clip up. That said, the 4x4 shop said they definitely come pre-loaded at 2". Seems odd they'd give you the option to move up if you shouldn't. Thoughts?

You can move it up. I wrote a post on this and my experience but will have to look back to get the link. Also here was my 4runner with the front fox 2.0 set at 2.5in of lift and 2inch icon springs.

I had the same issue with Fox 2.0. I basically had the same setup, and didn't like the amount of rake, so I cranked up the coilovers. Pro-tip: don't do it. The ride became unbearably harsh. In hindsight, I should have left the coilovers at factory setting, and either done shorter rear coils, or go back to stock coils. I am not sure how much an effect on ride adding a spacer would do, but that might be an option too.

They are made to be adjusted, go for it.

Of course the ride will be more harsh :D You are effectively removing spring travel while concurrently stiffening the spring when you preload it. It should be fairly obvious, simple physics. The best solution is to buy and install a taller spring (or even one with a higher weight rating), you basically get built in lift, like a Dobinsons or spec out an Eibach. It would take literally 10 minutes with the coil-over off the truck, depending on the extra height you may need to compress them a little to get the preload collar on.

Update: I raised the coils (what a *****) about 8 grooves and got the lift I wanted while experiencing nearly no difference in ride quality. Not sure if I just raised it less than others or if my coils didn’t come raised (unlikely) but it is totally fine. Ride looks sick, too.

Also, just got back from a deep Baja 7 sisters surf trip. Thing performed beautifully!

Ace! Good to hear =)

Other poster used the word cranked implying much more than usual :) I would think a mild adjustment would not feel so much as when you reach the max lift, my ride became more harsh at just under 3.0' inches of lift, I also have a few hundred extra pounds up front which I know has a big effect on my front suspension.
