Too much sag ??

This 97' has 366,000 kms and looks like the shocks are WELL worn, however it rides pretty nice considering. The front has Tokico and the rears are KYB gas-adjust, I think these have been a replacement at some time. I have owned it for a year now. This pic shows the sag with 2 labrador dogs in the rear and one adult in the back seat, I'm thinking there's too much sag in the rear ! should I be looking at new shocks ?
Would anyone be able to tell me what the normal height is from the ground to the wheel arch front and rear ?
Oh, and pay no attention to the driver !:laugh:

The top of the wheel well should stand about 19.5" from the center of your hubs. I wouldn't think it would be your shocks that is the problem. The sag is almost certainly caused by worn out springs. Your front spings probably aren't too far behind.

Here is a website that can save you some money vs. dealership, if you're replacing with OEM parts. Tip: '99 springs are 1" taller than the rest of the 3rd gen years.

This can't be a recent picture! It is sunny there!

Have you consider to install air bags in the rear? I had the same sag and went with 99 tall springs and then after a heavy load for over 2 days drive, sagged again! then went with air bags.

So what are the airbags you talk of ? Not heard of those b4.

I'm sitting on the fence as to whether to get the replacement Bilsteins 4600 shocks, I would definitely suspect the springs are the originals ! looks like I may have to do them too. Project for the spring.

Thats not much at all considering what others have on here. I myself just turned over 240k miles. Many on here with over 300k miles easy.

To the OP you need to replace rear shocks and coils to fix the issue, just shocks wont do it.

Not sure how many miles you have on your shocks but if your springs warrant replacing, you may consider replacing your shocks while you're in there.

I have a few contacts here, and there's always eBay. There's no way I am starting this project at -15c anyway ! No garage to use either so waiting for a while yet.
SD Truck Springs seem to be one of the cheapest places to get a set of 4 Bilstein shocks from, minus the springs though, shipping is cheap too to Canada.:thumb3:
 
Yes, Camelback won't ship to Canada. But Toyota of Dallas Parts will. Same prices, I have used them a couple of times. Sorry, don't know how to post a link.

Exactly! The problem is the coils are worn out, and the bags are really just a Band-Aid for getting back to stock ride height.
