When I was talking about racing, I was only talking about being able to beat someone at a stoplight or a tollbooth. The way this thread started was by a toll booth race. I have no intention of racing my 4Runner. I did not get this truck with that in mind. You are right. That does sound funny!! I do have to admit though that I enjoy a stoplight race every now and then. You know, just to see who has more power. :biggrin2:

No offense intended, but....what age are the people purchasing and driving 4Runners? These vehicles were not intended to "race" other vehicles.

I find it extremely funny, yet sad, that people "race" SUV's. That's like taking a Yugo off-roading

I love the V8 in this truck and I don't race it. Why, I hate to press that hard on the gas I must be getting old.

The 3rd gen 4runners ('96-'02) with the 3.4L V6 can go from 0-60 in about 9.5-10.5 seconds...most tests show around 10.0 seconds. It ain't no speedster!

For the record, with the ECT button switched on I regularly SMOKE other cars and pickups at border checkpoints.

People will race anything: horses, on foot, bikes, and SUVs.

It's human nature to want to beat the other guy.
