Yep. Use it to monitor trans temp when towing, mostly. Use the eBay cable and techstream for anything more advanced.

How do you use the Torque app for tranny temps? I have the app and have used it for a couple of years, but never had the option for tranny temps (its not highlighted like the rest of the options). I have the pro version.

[MENTION=85641]calcrc[/MENTION] The name of the app is in the title.... Torque... There are two versions: a lite (free) version and a Pro (paid) version. Try the lite version and see if you like it first. Very basic options though. If you dont mind spending the $$$ on the paid app, its pretty good to have. But remember, you need an OBD2 reader before you can use this app. I found one on amazon.com for pretty cheap.

I found some formulas to add your own PID's for the trans temp.


For sensor 1 (Pan Temp):
OBD2 Mode and PID: 2182
Long Name: Transmission Fluid Temperature 1
Short Name: Trans 1
Minimum Value: 0.0
Maximum value: 300.0
Scale factor: x1
Unit Type: °F
Equation: ((((A*256)+B) * (7/100) – 400)/10)
OBD Header to use: left blank

For sensor 2 (Converter outlet temp):
OBD2 Mode and PID: 2182
Long Name: Transmission Fluid Temperature 2
Short Name: Trans 2
Minimum Value: 0.0
Maximum value: 300.0
Scale factor: x1
Unit Type: °F
Equation: ((((C*256)+D) * (7/100) – 400)/10)
OBD Header to use: left blank

I used to use it in my 3rd gen and it never worked right. Maybe it does a better job with newer versions and in our 5th gens. I just use a ScanGauge II

I have a Scan Gauge 2 in my Supercharged Tacoma and it works well. I originally used the Torque app to use in my 3rd gen and it worked great. It could be your adapter was faulty.

Do you guys whom have it working properly mind posting exactly which adapter you guys ordered and where? There are so many cheap ones out there and I have no clue which one is "good" enough to work. I'm just too much of a cheapskate to splurge on a pricier one if the cheaper ones do the same thing

My friend pulled this out when I had a check engine light show up on my Jeep recently, I thought it worked really well. He uses it in his Audi A3 with success, I can find out what OBD adapter he has. I'm pretty sure it was an Amazon deal as well.

Anyone successfully using Torque on a 2015?

I've been using Torque Pro on my 96 4Runner and 08 Outback without issue - in fact it has been great.

However, I cannot get it to connect to my new 15 SR5. It will make a momentary connection and then drop it, failing on the

"Connection to adapter"
"Connection to ECU"​

items.

I'm not sure if it is an incompatibility with my cheap ELM327 BT device (but it still works on the other vehicles) or some new bus protocol on the the latest 4Runners.

I've tried all of the BT communication options in Torque to no avail.

So are people in the community successfully using Torque on 2015 models? If so, which BT adapters?

what version of the elm327/protocol is that adapter using?

I know recent version are in the 1.4 or 1.5 version.

I am using 1.5 on my 2014 LE and the paid version of torque.

this is the exact look alike I have that works for me.

just make sure you don't use the software or even view the mini-cd contents. 99% sure they have nasty Trojans/malware within the apps. as least mine did when I did a scan on it.
