I just wanted to post a heads-up about my experience with balancing new tires on my 2015 TEP:
I ordered a new set or tires from Discount, they mounted them and I left. I had a vibration at 50mph, took it back, they re-balanced (and remounted one tire), I left, now the vibration was worse, and it was at 70mph instead of 60.
Did some reading here about the 6-lug flange adapter that was needed for the Roadforce Balancer. Called Discount, they said they'd hunt it down and call me back.
They called yesterday afternoon, I took it back this morning where they started AGAIN to balance it with the regular cone backer. I saw the tech mounting the wheel up and asked the manager to step in because nobody was listening to me. He finally got the tech sorted and they used the correct setup on the machine to produce a good balance on the 3rd try.
Even with me telling them point blank that it's required, they continued to insist that it was unneeded, that they have "next generation" equipment, etc. I finally feel like I can get balanced correctly at this location, but ONLY because I stood and watched and insisted.
At least now I know. If the shop balances without the flange adapter, they are aiming at a moving target.
