The advice you received on the KM2's is accurate. Great off road, suck on road. I have a set on my T4R now and hate them. I go off road more than the average bear, but the time on road is not fun.

Someone early in this thread mentioned the ProComp Extreme mud terrains. I don't have any experience with those tires, but I do with the Extreme AT's. ProComp just redesigned them and they are decent on the street and very competent off road. They will last 50K miles as well.

I'm running these on my 04 and they are a nice all around tire. Look a little aggressive too.

Hankook Dynapro ATMs are great all around ATs and meet your desire for the "tough" look. There was a set on my recently acquired 'Runner but I replaced them because I wanted stouter sidewalls to cruise the Rockies. Putting them on CLs now. Here's a photo of the Hankook.

I concur with these. The Dynapro is an excellent tire and it has a very aggressive look, too, without being excessively loud. Here is my '99 right after I got the Hankooks.

My new-to-me '07 has a near-new set of Cooper Discoverers in 265/70. I'm seriously considering replacing them with a set of Hankooks in 265/75. Don't know if I'll keep the Coopers for winter or sell them on CL.

Which Discovers did yours come with? When I was shopping around for my 4Runner, most of the shops put the cheap-o Discoverer HTs or HTPs on there ($120 a pop from Discount tire).

The Duratracs look good and they perform well on and off road.
