AFAIK, towing mirrors that have the "factory look" and work well are difficult to find.
Has anyone taken the current generation Tundra mirrors that telescope out and mounted them on the current generation 4Runner?
I faced the same problem you have a few years ago when I purchased my 8.5 foot wide, enclosed car trailer.
The stock 4Runner mirrors simply could not do the job. The clip on mirrors (CIPA, I believe) were not much better.
I finally found the McKesh Mirrors. They do not have the "Factory Look" but they DEFINITELY do the job VERY WELL.

I purchased the McKesh mirrors along with the optional convex spotting mirrors. This setup along with the stock 4Runner mirrors works very well for me.
Some people look at this setup on my 4Runner and laugh.
People who are serious about towing safety look at my setup and comment how well it must work.
If you do get the McKesh Mirrors to use on your 4Runner. I found that you have to bend the bottom bracket that hooks to the bottom of the door slightly.
The bottom of the 4Runner door is wider than the bracket can handle so bending it helps.
I also put blue painter's tape on this bracket as well as on the bottom of the door sill. This prevents scratching the door sill.
I also found it helpful that after one gets the mirrors positioned on the 4Runner the first it pays to use a black, felt tip pen to mark the positions of the mirrors on the window rubber. Makes installing the mirrors a snap in the future.
