Hello all! Long time no talk!
Hard to believe my 2006 4-runner will turn 9 years old this month, with around 120K miles. I know I'm in for a ton of maintenance soon, but today is another priority.
For the first time since I bought it, I'll need to use the tow hitch for a small U-Hall trailer (I'm moving long distance). So, for a 2006 4-runner Limited with V-8, 4-wheel drive, would anyone know, off hand the capacity of the tow hitch, so that I can size the trailer, and know how much I can load in it?
Also, For those experienced with this, how do you keep the trailer "secure" at the hitch point (within a "thievery" context)? If I'm staying overnight in a hotel, along the route, it would seem easy enough for thieves to unhitch the trailer at the tow hitch and cart it away. Do these trailer hitches or couplers come with some kind of secure lock that can prevent (or, at least, deter) that?
Any other tips/hints for a first time trailer tower would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks. I'm sure I'll be back with other questions.
Regards,
mag3
