Towing Mirrors (Not Strap-On Types)...Do they exist??

So I recently picked up a new Jayco 184BH SLX Baja and now I'm in the market for towing mirrors. It seems that no one makes bolt on, slide out type mirrors for the 4Runner. I found one that fits 05-13 Tacos, but I'm not sure if they'd fit or fit nicely if modified.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah, I searched on here for an hour last night. Came up with squat. Closest I got was a guy on Tacoma World who put 4Runner mirrors on his Taco. However, he Frankensteined the 4Runner mirror housing and attached it to the Taco mounting arm.

I have a 23fter that I tow. I ended up going with the convex multi-directional adjustment stick on type and put them in the upper outboard corners of the mirrors. Towed it from WA to California this way and was able to see fine. Most of the strap on types do not fit well. My buddy loaned me his and one nearly came off on the interstate when I tested it before my trip.

I use these K-Source Universal Towing Mirror - Clip On K Source Mirrors KS3891 really easy to put on with the ratchet straps. They work awesome, no movement or vibration.

You say no strap-on types - what about clamp-on? I have a set of fender mount mirrors that I use when I'm driving around with the doors off.

Nope, mounting interface is different. An adapter wouldn't be all that difficult for a decent machinist though. Use SS piece inside of a nylon cover.

Use a set of Go Pros fed to an ipad with the image reversed and a dash mount. Plus then you have Go Pros to record your amazing vacations. I mean since this is the internet and everyone has an unlimited budget...

I'm not afraid to drill holes in the 4Runner door or make an adapter. Is there any chance you have a comparison photo showing the mirrors on the outside of the door? I'm mainly concerned with any body contours or overall size differences that would make the swap look really odd.

I do, but they aren't resized or on my home computer. the mating edge of the mirrors are extremely similar but hard to tell even side by side how close they are since even a 1/8 inch gap will look terrible...

Hmmm.. Ok, Perhaps I'll have to invest in an off-shore Taco mirror from Fleabay, just to see how it fits. It's funny, I found a big write up about Taco owners scabbing on Dodge Ram towing mirrors. I thought it would be easier to find info on two closely related trucks.

Why not just buy the mirrors you want and if they don't fit return them? Seems faster. Also if you are making a bracket I suppose the trim won't matter that much. I included the other pics of the outside trim.

At over $200, I'd like to be sure they'll fit. If there is tweaking to be done, I'd rather pooch a $30 mirror. Thanks a bunch for the photos! :cheer2: I'll take a look at this in the morning to compare.
