I have a question regarding towing on my 2004 V8 4Runner. I have the factory tow hitch that is rated @7,000lbs. I would like to tow a camping trailer well within this capacity. My question is do I need to upgrade my springs/shocks or even a lift kit? I see a lot of posts on here with aftermarket lift kits. I am just concerned with the tongue weight that it puts additional weight on the rear axle. Would a lift help this out or am I okay with original equipment? I do plan on purchasing a WDH as it was recommended from the trailer dealer. Sorry if I placed this post is in the wrong location.

CXS...That's exactly what I was talking about. Any recommendations for which manufacturer to go with and if I need a lift?
kevinpt...Can you give me some more info on these air bags for the springs. Is this easy to install? Where do I get something like that? I don't want to sacrifice a nice quiet ride if I have to start messing with the suspension.
I can't recommend a brand, mine came with my trailer and I can't recall the brand. I can't run out and look as it's on theother side of town. I've been happy with everything I've gotten from etrailer.com and trust the carry good brands. I don't know if it's true or not but this may be a case of getting what you pay for and not a place I'd skimp to save a couple (or hundred) dollars. I'd suggest trying it alone initially, I doubt you'd need air bags as long as you set the hitch correctly. It's a remarkable bit of engineering that really surprised me by how well it took a lot of weight off the rear.
Edit: Your mention of a nice quiet ride made me want to give you a heads up that the WDH will bang when starting out. Scared the hell out of me the first time it happened. After the initial bang it will be quiet again, I think that's caused by the load bar chains setting in place.

I have used Firestone airbags in the past with excellent results. Toytec can get them for you.

I bought air bags thinking it would make it better... They are off the 4runner now. Adjust your bars correctly and you'll be fine. With the airbags inflated to only 10 psi, the ride became very bouncy with the bars. You need to let them do the work!
I bought the Equa-l-izer hitch (or something like that). I'm very pleased with the result. Can't go wrong with it. BTW I'm towing a 25ft TT.
