Towing

I have read many of the threads on this and still really can't find an answer. I live 3 miles from the boat ramp, up 2 hills and down 1. Boat is a 97 SeaRay 18' and weighs in around 2800lbs. Will a 22re, manual, IFS pull this? Good idea or not, will it physically do it?

what size tires do you have and do you have stock gearing? how fast do you want/need to go? i've towed a uhual trailer weighing 3k lbs from colorado to ca, but i wouldn't do it again. i've also towed our 1k lb vintage trailer 800 miles, but after regearing with 32s. wasn't great, but it works. went about 45 up very long (5 mile pretty steep hills).

it will pull it. I believe they are rated at 3500lbs towing.

the boat trailer likely has surge brakes, so that will help.

Towing!? With a 22RE!? :pound: Seriously tho, it'll do it. These trucks are ridiculously tough. I towed a big tent trailer for years all around the Sierras. As long as you're on a flat, no problem. But any hint of an incline will have u downshifting in a heartbeat. For what u want to do it shouldn't be a problem.

P.S. I'd use low range on the boat ramp.

Another + for towing with a 22re, I've towed a ton of crap with my truck! Boats, trailers, even a couple of flat-towing of a few trail rigs off trails that broke down!

Towed a u-haul trailer packed with everything I owned from Iowa to SoCal once, with 31's and stock 4.10 gearing! Wasn't fun, but it did it without any issue whatsoever!

And 4wd in low range on slippery or really steep boat ramps work quite well! 3 different boats back home in Honolulu, launched from some of the crappiest ramps ever and my truck didn't even care!!!
