Toyo Open Country A/T II

I know the AT III is out now but wanted to leave my AT II lifetime review on here.
I Purchased (4) LT285/70/17 Load E around 3 years ago and finally had a trail sidewall blowout (my fault) after 48,000 miles and probably 40+ rough offroad uses.
These tires were tough as hell showed very little trail damage after so many and still had 9-10/32nds of tread remaining. They wore very slowly throughout the life and I really think toyo stands out in tread toughness for trucks that get driven 15-20k+ miles a year and highly abused rigs.
Ridewise they were always quite, a little rough as they were Load E and I was anticipating this. I did feel like there was room for improvement in traction in wet and snow. In rain the back end could be broken loose easier than I would have liked. Snow and Ice grip was adequate but given my climate and uses I would likely have gone with a more siped AT as safety is paramount. When driven within their limits they never let me down.
I ended up pickup up Wildpeaks in the same size, Load C (jeep gladiator take-offs) but would have gone with AT III from toyo as it supposedly fixes weather related traction problems and tougher / more agressive sidewalls. My only reasoning here was price as I probably took advantage of the gladiator bro who sold me (5) for half what I would have payed for the Toyos.
If you havent already decided, I would look for the AT IIIs if considering toyos. They basically fix all the issues I had with them which were minor. Otherwise get yourself the best deal to quality that you can find based on your uses.

Thanks for the review! Yeah, I never got around to replacing my KO2’s. Haven’t really been driving at all since Covid started, so I think I’m going to pull the trigger on the AT IIIs when the time comes.
