Toyo Open Country MT on 4th gen

Hi all, I did a search and couldn't find any photos specific to these tires on a 4th gen, and was planning on updating my existing Cooper Zeon LTZ's. I plan on doing a lot of offroading/camping this summer and want this more aggressive tire.

How good are the wear characteristics? Good for 60k+ miles?

255/85r16 toyo m/t's.
Ran them on my 3rd gen for 2 seasons, and 1 more season on the 4th gen. (I have studded tires for winter).
I'd say I got at least 60,000kms out of them. Still had 20-30% left when I sold them.

I definitely wasn't nice to them either. Probably 3-400 km per week offroad. Funny thing is the only puncture I had was a screw in a parking lot when they were near new!

The RTs are about as aggressive as the MTs but a bit better all around in rain and snow. Love my set in 35"

I had a set I bought used with about 90% tread. Lasted about 35k miles for me, and ran surprisingly quiet and smooth on the road. I wouldnt hesitate to run them again, just wanted an all terrain for better gas mileage as the Toyo's are heavy.

I have looked at them, but I am in love with the tread design of the Open Country's.

pictures of the ST maxx dont do the tread or sidewalls justice. my set of tires before my 35s was a set of ST maxx's in 285/70r17. They look very aggressive in person both in the tread face and sidewalls. Also a very very good tire in all conditions. with the added benefit of being a decent amount cheaper. i had ~33% tread left on mine with ~30-35K miles when i sold them to a buddy whos running them. i beat the piss out of them wheeling too, plus some heavy towing. another benefit is the cooper armor tek carcase runs large for the 285r17 size, mine measured out to be 33.3 new.

In the case of the toyos, ive had some good friends run them on their jeeps and yotas and get good mileage out of them, roughly 30-40k miles. they can get noisy near the end, but what offroad tire doesnt. They perform very well, but are heavy, and that comes from a guy who runs coopers and treadwrights. my current 35s weigh as much or just slightly heavier than most toyo/nitto 33s. and gas mileage shows it.

I had 35.1250r20 Toyo MTS on my F250 and they were the best tire I've ever owned. I put about 20k on them before I traded them off but they had near 50% tread left and that was including me abusing them. I'd highly recommend them. Only thing I'll mention is that a buddy of mine who owns a tire shop said that Toyo switched a matrial in the make up of the tires recently and they have not worn as good since. But I have no proof of this other than his word so who knows. But I had great luck with mine.

I have heard this rumor as well, but can't confirm either way.

The most important thing to remember with mud terrains is rotate with every oil change. Especially on IFS rigs.
