i think someone might have mentioned something similar in another post in this thread. i was told by a mechanic that he dealt w a toyota that got the frame replaced. he said he was told that in addition to the frame there are a handful of other chassis parts, significant ones, replaced as well - maybe because of rust or efficiency.

That’s incomplete. The date/claim period reads, “The longer of either (a) twelve (12) years from the date the vehicle was originally sold or leased; or (b) one (1) year from the date of entry of the Final Order and Judgment. Otherwise a lot of people with eligible vehicles would have been excluded b/c they hadn’t yet made claims within the 12-year limit.

Does anyone know from the last round how long it took between the petition and actual final order? I mean, are we talking years?

If this goes through, I'm sure it'll go just like the dashboard replacement program did for me.

You should have brought it to a different dealer. I had a fairly minor crack, but it was cracked across the front top above the gauges and they had no problem replacing it.
For the frame, I have a couple rust spots that are soon to rust through but it is not widespread, But my year is what worries me, 2003. I don't think they'll go that far back

Yes! I bought an 04 back in March from a guy here in Colorado but it spent a good chunk of it's life in Pennsylvania first. He did some rust mitigation with a wire brush and paint, but I can tell what lurks beneath is no bueno. I've had the same thought as the rest of you all, "I'd love to keep upgrading and modifying this truck, but I'm not so sure this frame is going to last".
My previous 97 spent it's life in Colorado, which uses mag chloride on the roads, and definitely had a better looking frame than this 04.

What is everyone putting down in their description and date when this happened? Do we all need to write down a similar description? Did anyone check any of the boxes aside from ‘Body’?

I'm filling out the form tomorrow so I'm not sure which boxes you're referring too, but in looking over other people's complaints it seems that lots of people have tagged their complaint as "structure".

Does anybody with inside information have any idea if this is starting to go anywhere, or when we will know if anything will happen? I was hoping to have some rust fixed on my frame before winter, but with the thought that a replacement may be coming within a year or so I may not fix it, as I'm sure Toyota will want to see evidence of rusted frame...

Don't count on it being quick, its the federal government. If it happens the earliest would be mid-end of next year. Unless they can push Toyota to settle due to the precedence of the last case on the Tacoma's.

Good to see some progress. My big problem is this could take years to get a conclusion, and my frame wont last that long. MY rear coil tower just rusted away from the frame. I found the coil holding up against the floor! a stabilizer bar bracket, fuel tank bracket, and both suspension stop blocks rusted away from the frame. I can fit my hand through some holes. 2005. I just fabricated some new towers, and will have to make the other stuff too. Cant afford a new vehicle but at least I can weld.
So its the same guy that originally filed the petition that is filing the lawsuit, Gary Weinreich. Is this hero a forum member by chance?

We get it, you think everyone with a rusty frame neglected their vehicles and deserves it.
