Toyota, 4Runner Win Again

Your point is well taken, but in my experience, the "car x has a fantastic resale value" thing is way overdone.

Well Lester, it would seem you've never had the misfortune to get a car totalled. It may be horsepuckey to you now, but if it ever happens you'll know of what we speak.

My wife drowned a CRV two years ago, which was subsequently totalled, and I was honestly astounded at what my insurance co. gave me for it.

Would that have happened on a Ferd? Not bloody likely.

My point was, it's always a good idea to take in to account resale value because that is close to what you will get if your car is stolen/totaled.

If someone is reading this and thinks, oh yea, i will keep my truck to 300k. Well yea, without any incident, sure.

Not trying to start/win an argument, just my opinion.

As mentioned to another participant here and to you - point taken.

1engineer's reply to my comment doesn't fly in it's entirety, but that's my opinion. I'm done with this one.

This thread has obviously gotten off the original track; for me it was bashing Land Rover! I think they are cool and all, but have totally descended into luxo, mall crawler, status vehicles. A co-worker and I were wondering why anyone ever buys a Land Rover given the awful reliability numbers. It reminded me of the old joke: Why do the British not make computers? Because they can't figure out how to make them leak oil all over your driveway!
