Toyota grille clips and the devil

This is what makes me mad about these Ebay phonies, using the word "genuine" to mislead like this. I've seen even better - "Genuine OEM". Sure, they are "genuine" (whatever that means), and they are indeed OEM (as in OEM Hangzhou Heavy Industries) - but nowhere does it say that the are Genuine OEM Toyota. That's how they get you, and then will argue that they did not mislead you.

The key red flag to look for in these listings is the word "for". The minute they say that something is "for" Toyota, you know it's not an "actual" Toyota part.

Thanks for your concern and the heads up about the metal clips that fit over the headlight bracket arms. I just double checked for these metal clips, even though I knew I had tried these new clips in the middle of the grill insert openings yesterday to no avail. I still have my metal clips, so these ebay clips are definitely junk.

The link to the exact listing I used and a photo of the packaging is at the bottom of my post. The red circles are where the differences lie. Genuine ones say "Bl" or "BF" not "Al" and under quantity it will say "10" not "1". I also noticed the OEM ones have a logo on the left side. The new ones I just ordered don't have this logo on the packaging either, however I read customer reviews and a few 3rd gen owners left feedback saying they work and I used the same seller.

It's just messed up the seller I went with actually uses a photo of a package that is different than what I received. They also use the word "genuine" in the listing title and description. And has a table showing all the different Toyotas it will work for. I know it's just $5 but I still messaged for a refund before leaving any feedback. We'll see if they reply.

I also got bogus clips. They had manufacturing defects that did not allow them to fit, and the "wings" of the clip were of the wrong shape and size so they did not lock into place. They were also a tad bit small.
