Wow yeah I didn't even look at the prices. Is that brake fluid made of gold? maybe part of a full brake service? I guess not.
I have no clue how they're getting $1800 out of that...
Sorry, I have no pity for stealers.
people like this ALWAYS pissed me off when i worked at the dealer.
Its a mistake, you're telling me you never accidentally left something behind?
Give me a break.
Be nice, return the tool to the tech, he didnt maliciously do it.
Wait a minute...for the work the OP had done to his vehicle...WTH was an impact wrench doing anywhere near his vehicle.
From what he described, I don't believe any impact wrench is needed. Wonder if it is a impact wrench or impact ratchet?

but you're willing to steal from someone else? Its not the dealerships tool, its the tech's. People disgust me.
Get off your high horse. What are you? Gandhi?
If the tech cared so much about his tool, he'd be calling me and offering to come over and get his tool. Instead of asking me to drive back to the dealer.
For the number of incompetent, arrogant, ethics-bankrupt dealers I have seen in my life, yes, I'd be perfectly comfortable keeping the tool till they get off their stupid ass and come to me to get it.
This was my reply over on 120.
It's not your job to bring it back. It's their job to perform a competent and thorough service. Leaving a pneumatic tool in a place where it can do significant damage is neither competent nor thorough. If they want it, they can respond at a time and place of your choosing to pick it up. If they don't pick it up at your convenience within the next couple of weeks then you've done your due diligence. You've notified them and given them reasonable time. Consider it abandoned and enjoy your gift.
Just as a hypothetical, suppose it had gotten into your fan belt and destroyed your A/C compressor, power steering , damaged a variety of other components and dented your hood then fell off onto the roadway. You have it towed back and there's no tool present to suggest what caused the damage. How do you think they would handle it?
As far as inspection, it doesn't sound like there was any damage. But if you wanna make sure and you're not confident of your own abilities then take it to an independent third party and bill the dealer for it.
