I believe so (haven't tested it). But like it was written earlier they likely update every two years or so. They might try to tell you your's is good. At that point I would just say it wasn't working properly... or maybe lead with that. IDK up to you but don't feel bad for lying to a stealership.

Not that it's any of my business... in fact I'm just bored.
But why take the moral high ground when it comes to dealing with a dealership?
You know how much we paid for the nav option? You know how much it costs to update the terrible system? It's robbery.
Not to mention the countless people underqualified for loans that they push through.
The shady shit dealerships and manufacturers do is beyond any ethical high ground.

But hey if you feel like your committing some mortal sin or whatever by all means don't do it. But I've prob spent over 100K over the years on toyota's alone. If I got to do some shit like copy a file to avoid paying 300 dollars for some product support on something we have already over paid for then so be it.
IMO for the cost of that update you could invest in a 1000x better head unit with lifetime support free.

I say go for it. Just don't give them any reason to suspect you did something to it.
If you have a buddy with the sd card you want to duplicate, the following command (Linux, Mac OS X, Cygwin, Win 10 bash shell, ...) should allow you to make an exact bit-by-bit duplicate of one sd card onto another sd card (of the same size) regardless of the format used.
Be extra careful that you have input and output devices correctly identified or you will wipe out the good card by writing the bad card to the good card.
if - is the input block device
of - is the output block device
bs - is the block size (in this case 100 MB)
conv - is the conversion to apply to the copy
# dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb bs=100M conv=notrunc
Oh, and the # prompt means that you will have su'd to root or sudo'd the command. If you don't know what this means and are not comfortable with it, then don't try this and use another solution.
Review the dd man page for options available to you and be careful with commands like this - they can be catastrophic. You have been warned multiple times!

hwell: one inetrnal, one external?Doing a straight clone of the sd card to another card wont work even if it is a bit by bit duplicate because of the encryption on the file linking the maps to the specific card. There is a unique file that is encrypted with the hardware ID of your specific card. If you clone the card the encrypted key for the prior card will copy, when the system checks to verify it will see your card is a different card than the original and will fail to load. The only way this would work is if you were backing up your own card and flashing back to that same card. These hardware ids are not changeable so you can't modify your card to match the other one.

I bought a 2017 TRD Pro recently and it didn't come with an SD card, and therefore no GPS. I'm pretty sure GPS was supposed to be included. How can I get this card? And get the dealership to pay for it?

I bought my ‘18 used in ‘19. It is equipped with nav, but lacked the card. I got mine off of eBay from an AZ dealership for $60 shortly after I bought my truck. New, sealed, well packaged, 2018 mapset, plug and play.
I did the same thing and it worked nicely. I was tired of driving on freeways my GPS said didn’t exist…
