Toyota Platinum extended service contracts...

Are those prices for the Toyota Platinum Warranty? Thanks My dealer was trying to charge me $2000 for the warranty.
:bugeye: I just checked the paperwork; the dealer charged me $860 for Platinum coverage.

I got my paperwork from Shaun on Friday...
Yes, $1500 for the Platinum warranty for Used Cars...4 years (from now) and 50k miles (from now).

Mine was more expensive than others in this thread because my truck was no longer in the 3/36 coverage (an '04 with 45k miles).

Mine was for a new purchase.

Just called Shaun and got my extended warranty on my 2005. He was one of the nicest people I have spoken to at a dealership. Very personable and professional. Highly recommend!! Can't beat the price either. I got the 7 yr/75K as I only have $28K on my car now and its almost 3 years old.

thanks I did see the response, but since it has been two years the question seemed worth asking again. Just making sure before I spend a grand on the extended warranty.

Results May Vary

I tried calling him at the first of June but he must be pretty busy because I had to call on about 5 different days before I caught him. When I did finally speak to him, he took my info and credit card number. Based off previous posts, I was expecting paperwork in the mail about a month later but it has now been over 7 weeks with nothing. I suppose he doesn't make much if anything off selling these extended warranties so it probably ranks very low on his priority list. But while waiting I passed by the 3 year mark on the factory warranty, so I guess I won't be having an extended warranty on my 4Runner after all. At least my credit card wasn't charged.

It took about 7 weeks to receive the paper work from Shaun and then another 3 weeks to receive the card. I'm pretty sure he'll come through for you though.

Very odd -- maybe the paperwork was misplaced. I got mine the next day.

Greetings.. new 4runner owner, resulting from my Tacoma's being bought back by Toyota as part of the frame rust program... but I digress.

I'm buying an '06 4Runner to replace the Tacoma, and am considering Toyota's factory backed extended warranty.

On Toyota's web site for this ( http://www.toyotafinancial.com/cons...=true&_pageLabel=pg_UsedVehicleProtectionPlan ) it states "Toyota Extra Care used vehicle protection plans are available through your Toyota dealer only at the time you purchase your used vehicle. Please see your dealer for pricing information."

How can this be offered by anyone besides the dealer that i'm purchasing the truck from?

I note that this is an old thread, if this is a result of policy changes, disregard. =)

I am pretty sure this was covered on one of the first few pages of this thread or one of the others.

You will be fine as long as your vehicle is still under the factory warranty.

No, this is a used truck, fact. warr. is expired.
The second post on this page is a guy (jsgreen) who purchased coverage from Shaun after the factory warranty expired. Itwas more expensive, but he was able to get it.

Maybe give Shaun a call and see what he says?

Thats right!

Don't know if Shaun has a "special way" to get things done, but extended warranties on Toyota used cars are indeed only available at the time the car/truck is purchased.

Always make sure it's a REAL Toyota warranty!

For all those who live in California...

I purchased an extended warranty from Shaun a year or so ago. I had a local tire shop tell me I had a leaky front shock that happens to be part of the X-reas system.

I declined their offer of a repair and took it to a local dealer. They confirmed the problem, looked up my VIN in the computer, covered the repair AND A RENTAL CAR for two days.

Cost for the repair and rental car...about $500.00 bucks!

As I have often stated...the law against buying a warranty from out of state is unenforceable!
