Toyota Remote Start / port installed option

Does it use the factory remote, or replace it? Would like a remote start, but don't want two remotes on my keys.

I wouldn't bother with the Toyota remote start for multiple reasons such as short range, short timer, and the fact it shuts down when you open the door to get in. I recommend looking into Compustar remote start systems. That's what I use on my 5th gen and I can use the OEM fob to control it. Plus you can add Drone Mobile and have unlimited range with 2-way communication with the remote start.

I use the step down model, so I have an extra remote. It has a whole lot of extra info, though; two way interaction is one of the big things for me.
You can use a mobile app, though, this eliminates a need for remote completely.
Thanks for most everyone's feedback, I really like the idea of the factory Toyota unit and the single remote, but boy it does have a lot of limitations.

Hi which model did you purchase, i'm looking at their website and all their options are paired with their own key fobs.
I just had the viper installed on my tundra last week. I love it, plus you don't have to restart it. The viper remote replaces your factory remote and can still roll down windows and everything else your OEM remote does. IMHO the best way to go.
Keep in mind... if you ditch your OEM remote and use the viper remote, you will need to get a non-remote key or carry two fobs.
This is what I'd prefer to avoid. I like having the remote and key together. May look into that smart phone option.

Here is what I installed:
-rf-ftx1400 remotes (2 of them)
-ft-7000 brain
- DAS sensor (shock, tilt, motion)
-blade al transponder interface
-touch rps (coded windshield touch pad, nice if you don't want to carry anything on you)
-drone mobile
-ez-go remote (proximity remote)
I purchased all of this from a member on here and installed it myself (I used to install alarms for a living so I realize this isn't an option for everyone). I'm kind of a tech geek so I basically got all the bells and whistles but if I were to do it over I'd just go with;
-ft-7000 brain
-DAS sensor
-blade al transponder
-drone mobile

I have factory remote start and have been quite happy with it. Shortcomings sure, just like entune, it is fine for what it is.
Especially knowing someone didn't hack the factory wiring, broke interior trim, stripped fastening hardware, ect. Unless of course you are doing it yourself (and don't do any of the above) or have someone you know and trust.
There will come a time, down the road, when it is paid for, out of warranty, that digging into and changing things factory electrical is far less a concern.

I got factory remote option on the '10 and I swore I'd not make that mistake 2X. Getting the compustar drone with EZGO next month for the '15. I'd like for the guy to set it up so I can use factory key fob to control remote start, I'll ask to see if he can. He's a compustar dealer/installer. EZGO for $40 was a no brainer. I'll test fob remote for range and if that's not sufficient I'll go with drone app. Can also upgrade to get vehicle status reports and GPS locator in case you have a teen driver.

I can add the sort phone module to my system. In fact, all modern viper systems can have the smart phone module added. Then you do not even need a fob to Lock, unlock, start, roll down Windows, open sun roof, find car in parking lot exc. I thought about getting it in m tundra, but it's just a shop truck.

Im still around just not on here much.
ezgo is a short range rf remote so range will suck LOL.
you will be able to use 3x lock to start as long as it is enabled in programming.
drone is GPS enabled out of the box unlike viper's, they have 2 sku's
