TPMS is a federally mandated system due to the Ford Exploder(Explorer)/Firestone incident. That is the reason all manufacturers are required to have a TPMS system. I'm guessing you will not be able to disable it by means of an integrated ecm/control unit software reprogram. Maybe black tape on your instrument cluster over the light... There may be a way around it but I am not aware of it.

Now I understand what your objective is. I would not believe this would be possible. I am sure the code written to the body ECU for that parameter is hard coded. More than likely mandated by the Fed's. We can blame all this crap on Ford and Firestone...
I am all too familiar with the Techstream and TIS. I run the fully paid Security Professional version with my auto repair shop.

Hmm, my truck is 2005. So i these are years, I should be choosing the first entry. The problem is - there's no "TPMS Monitor" if I do that...
What do you guys use for your 4th gens?

After you click on Connect To Vehicle it should automatically populate the vehicle.
It does pick the engine, then there's a dropdown with 4runner or Tacoma. And then there's a dropdown with the above numbers...

I used this on my 2004 to change the TPMS pressures-for the life of me I can't remember where in the settings it was.
When it's there, the tire pressure monitor is listed with all the other ECUs.
The problems is, after connecting to the vehicle and selecting 4Runner (from the 4Runner/Tacoma dropdown), I'm presented with the following next choice to make:
-0908
0908-1008
1008-1208
1208-1308
1308-1508
1508-
If the format of these is YYMM (which makes sense, since Toyota seems to release new models in August), and since my truck is 2005, then I'm supposed to choose the "-0908" entry.
When I do that however, there's no TPMS ecu listed!
In fact the TPMS only shows up for the bottom 2 choices, which I don't think are for the 4th gen.
Don't want to mess something up by having the software think it's working with a different vehicle.
Though at this time I'm only after getting some new TPMS sensor IDs into the system and I guess the chances for a screw up are not that high.

My smart key fobs flaked out on me. I have to touch it to the Start button to get going every time. Anyway, I purchased a new fob on Ebay and just called the dealer to see what they'd charge to program it.....$135. So I just ordered the Techstream kit. Hopefully save myself a few bucks doing it myself.
Can you get past that menu and do a "Health Check" or turn it off, unplug and reconnect.
The first time I used it it did not pull all the data. The next time or 3rd it pulled everything including the VIN.
I think it has not fully gathered all your data... I can't recall but can you input your VIN... you could try this.
It does sound you have a connection but not a complete connection.
Try a couple of connect / disconnect and if possible get to "health check" and let it run a full scan. Once it does that I think it will recognize all your info.
Also try clicking the "connect to vehicle" button on upper left of screen again after the initial screen with incomplete data pops up.

Let us know how that goes. I've only seen a guy do the Key type and not the fob type. It will be nice to know this works as expected.
You don't think you simply have a dead battery do you?
I did turn it off and on several times. No difference.
It pulls the VIN just fine every time. Which makes it even more weird, because the year can be pulled from the VIN...
...hmm...this doesn't add up. My connection will be equally good/bad regardless if I choose "-0908" or "1508-". Yet, the TPMS monitor is present for "1508-" and not for "-0908"...
I'm starting to think, that the behavior might have more to do with the "Europe" vs "North America" settings than anything else...
You know when you first fired it up.... you didn't change the "user type" did you?
That is odd if it's finding your VIN.
I can't remember what happened with mine but I specifically recall it was 'not all there'.... seems like I ran the health check and after that things all started to show up correctly.
I was ready to give up. I started the engine. Shut it off. Closed and restarted program. Some combination of what I did got it going.

Glad you got it. So you had to set it to NA?

At first I changed the battery, it worked, then failed again a week later. Then swapped the battery from my other fob into it, it worked again, then failed a few days later.

It worked! I got my virgin key fob and Techstream software yesterday. Loaded Techstream version 9.2 onto my XP laptop, plugged it into the truck, and then was able to activate the new FOB.
Its funny the dealer said they'd charge $135 for an hour of labor to program the key....I did it in 3 minutes.
