Toyota V8's Are Fast

Keep thend throw on some headers and tuning. Thats pretty much all I have and I run rings around porsches, fc's fd's, rs mustang, RS miata's etc.

Like I said before, I traded a 2012 JK in for this 4R. My JK had probably 290 horse at the flywheel and was mated to a 6-speed manual trans. This old V8 would wipe the floor with it. I punched it from a redlight a day or so after buying this thing and it blew me away. The speedometer was climbing like a sports car. I glance down I'm already doing 80. It's unreal how fast these things will scoot when you push them.

What does this prove? TORQUE is where it's at...not horsepower. Twisting force is what turns that driveshaft.

My wife's Focus with 160hp will run a 15.9 (that's pretty slow) and a Rav4 with the V6 even runs 14.7 so it really depends on the what the engine is in. I've read of the 4th gen V6 running 15.8 with the V8s just a couple tenths ahead and mid 15s for a 4Runner is decent.

I'd like to see Toyota drop a V8 into an affordable sports car.

A lot of guys that run a toyota supra have taken the 2uz-fe 4.7lv8 out of 4runners and tundra's to produce an engine that looks like this: for there toyota "sports cars"

I love the "throw you back in your seat" feeling you get off the line with the torque of a V8 - it was that and the fact that the thing gets up to speed abolutely effortless that convinced me to buy the V8.

I put a Flowmaster 50 series on it and it gives it juuuuust the right amount of growl. At idle you have no idea anything is going on - it's not until you hit the pedal. I freaked some guy in a lowered Integra out the other day off the line. With the AWD and the ability to just mash it off the line, you can hang with anyone for short distances.

Again .... I didn't buy it for speed or gas mileage, I bought it because it's FUN! Hell, my wife has started taking it when she's going somewhere and both cars are home just because - her words "it's really fast for such a big truck"

I love the v8 in my 2005 4Runner. So much fun to drive with all that torque just waiting to be unleashed!

Same here! I was dead set on purchasing a V6 until I saw my current V8. After I drove it I was sold. I don't regret my decision at all.

16.2 sounds pretty bad. My lifted, long bed F150 with a ranch hand and tonneau ran a 15.9. Truck was a V8 but also weighed a whole lot more than a 4 runner.

It puts a nice grin on my face when I lift the hood of my 4runner, I still get butterflies when I look at my V8. Its not the biggest but it sure is purrttyyy!!!

I swear, hearing the exhaust from the back window or sunroof while driving is almost therapeutic lol, love it.

I ran my buddy with a 07 V6 2" lift and 275 BFG's. I gave him the move from a dig and put a car and a half on him before I was halfway through second. These trucks have excellent low end power. I missed the rumble of my old 4th gen so I'm having a 40 series put on this weekend. :driving:

I think it's awesome you guys have the 8. I hope y'all realize I kid about the mileage--sorta. As for me, I don't tow, I wanted an auto, & wanted to just cruise around real mellow. After getting 2(!) speeding tickets last summer within 2(!) months, I figured I probably should lay off driving my "4.2L 8," aka the S4, as much for a little while. I just can't seem to stay off the gas driving it. So I totally get it. Just wasn't for me. Call it punishment for speeding. Times 2.

What year truck and which V8 was it?

Anyways a friend of mine at work didnt even know they came with V8s lol.. I love the 4.7L not just because of the HP, though not great, but it's torque and smoothness.
