My name is Colin, and I am a car addict! ( I am on car number 42) I live in Cloudcroft NM area and I'm the Internet mgr at a Toyota dealership (and other brands) I am also a Photographer. I finally decided to make a build thread, now that stuff is finally going on the 4runner.

Before the lift...
First the back story.
I started wheeling back in Florida right before I decided to move to NM. I had run into a REALLY good deal on a 2000 jeep wrangler with 90k miles...
The landrover right after I picked it up. lots of flex!!!
Well I had that for a bit, then when I decided to move to NM, I wanted something with more room for everybody, and more capable. So I listed it for sale. Well I got somebody that wanted to trade a very modded 99 Land rover Discovery custom built by Rock ware with an ARB locker in the rear and a lot more, well I loved this truck but it was slow! and I work at a Toyota dealership, so I decided to sell it and get a new Tacoma. It sold really quickly and I needed a Tacoma, so we had one last Speedway blue Taco in stock, but I really didn't feel it was a good enough deal, and at the same time I found the ATO tacoma for sale. FS - 07 Double Cab - Tacoma World Forums So I pulled the trigger on that! I loved this truck for about a yr, then we ran into some personal financial issues ( I had lost a few houses in Florida) and I had to sell it. :sobbing: But it went to one of my best friends and he could take better care of it then me, and would actually tear it up and know how to fix it. ( which he has done a lot already. LOL)

So while I owned the ATO Tacoma, I ran into this killer deal on this 2000 4runner, yes it was ugly, and smoked in and neglected a bit by this older lady, but at the time it was a perfect way to save my pretty blue paint on the taco. LOL So I used it to find the new trails and scratch up. Then after needing to sell the taco this moved up to the only wheeler. Here is a pic from the day I bought it.
So the first thing I did was rip off that stupid grill "guard" that was stopping the hood from being opened! and take off the steps and anti-roll bars and put on some used 235-85-16s. Then I put on some spare parts from around the shop, we put on some FJ rear springs and shocks, well I got MASSIVE flex, so much that my drive shaft hit the gas tank and eventually the shock busted thru the mounting point from being so long. LOL So I finally decided to lift it correctly, after doing lots of research (and info from Jake Q.) I chose to go with a Sonoran steel 1.2 lift, as I liked all the new factory Toyota parts and wanted something that rides nice. While waiting to get the lift on I ran into a good deal on some glassworks Fiberglass fenders to replace the elk damaged ones. I also picked up a used Bud built skid plate from a friend. I also have a hook up on LED light bars so those will be going on too. For tires I think I have decided to go with 255-85-16 KM2s wrapped around some 8" wide rims (which are staying a secret for now) lol.
