Toytec top plate spacer install

I've been digging around the forum looking at the posts of people who've installed the Toytec top plate spacers. I'm trying to find out if you need to replace the existing strut top plate studs with the new, longer studs provided in the kit, or if you can use the existing studs. I was hoping to do the install myself, since pulling the strut assembly out is something I can do at home. However, if those studs have to be replaced, that would seem to require that you first compress the springs, which I don't want to deal with.

Can anyone with first hand experience installing these top plate spacers confirm exactly what is involved in the install process?

Yes you will need to replace the studs with the longer ones. It has also been mentioned if you are doing this on a limited it is kinda of a pain and a few places wouldnt do it for some of the members. It has also been said if you have a limited and just want to level it to use the ome coils up front. Not sure what model you have.

(edit) I see you have a trail then yeah you can do the top plate spacer no problem ignore all the limited nonsence lol. That is what I did before I just went ahead and lifted the whole thing.

Thanks for the info. Your initial spacer install thread was actually one I was following initially! So it sounds like the installation of the top plate spacers does indeed require compressing the springs. Darn. It would be a super easy install if not for those studs needing to be replaced. I'll definitely have a shop do it, then. After replacing the shocks on my old Tacoma and compressing the front springs in my garage using those cheap compressors, I'm done with that.

It cost me about 250 to have them installed with a alignment. The same shop just put my lift on and it was 330 with alignment so in retrospect I should have just went with the full lift in the first place so if you are even considering it just hold off and do it all at once and save some money
