ToyTec Ultimate, BFD's + A/T3's going on Tomorrow! Question.

Question for those of you who most definitely know a LOT more about suspension mods than me (than I?).

Is there a "standard" set of settings (to set - ha) that I should dictate to the shop for my situation? I am having the work done by a top-shelf shop (confirmed by ToyTec since they are right here in the Denver area too).

I want only a modest lift. Just enough to look good and perform right with Cooper 285/65's on BFD 18's (and fit in my city garage!).

Of course, the answer could be "Stop worrying about it and just let the pros do their job!" (not that anyone has ever said that to me before). :biggrin2:

I will take before and after shots for SURE! Very psyched.

USUALLY the front coilovers are set to the proper height. With that said, do you want a little nose down rake, level or nose up? This would be information that the shop would need. Other than that, I would think that they would set it up standard.

Hey Gerdo, thanks.

Level is my preference a TOUCH nose down would be OK but really want level.

So they are set to the "minimum" lift out of the box? If I understand it, these can be bumped-up higher as desired.

I run Ohlins on both my Harley and Trumpet and drove myself nuts with adjustments...not gonna do it here.
 
Are you installing a rear lift too? If not, you'll need to crank it pretty far down to level it. If its a good shop. I'm sure you can just tell them what you want and they'll know what to do. But be sure and specify reference points....... if you want frame-level or wheel arches level.

Shouldn't forget the dreaded "driver side droop" when factoring in the lift height. I don't know about you, but I have about 1/2" height difference between driver and passenger sides. That was one of the primary factors in my decision to go with the Ultimate lift, vs the preset bilstein coilovers. Gotta love that infinite adjustibility.

Yep. Worth every penny. I'm actually installing a OME spacer this weekend to level out the back as well.

Performance Wheel and Tire over on Santa Fe is doing the work. The owner of ToyTec said they were a great shop.

It's over there RIGHT NOW! Just had a call from them checking that it was OK with me for them to mold and/or tie back some of the liner to avoid rubbing.

They clearly do a LOT of this kind of work, so the outcome should be great.

I took the "before" shot this morning and should have it back within a couple of hours now!

Hey man, sorry to hear you didn't like the Coopers. What was the issue?

I have heard nothing but "good choice" versus Nitto TG or other options. I ran BFG A/T's on my past 2 3rd gen 4Runners but left my 4th gen stock all the way.

I am dying to see how this turns-out!

Couldn't get them balanced, they think one tire was bad. I ended up with Duratracs because they had them in stock. They really change the appearance of the truck, so much, I'm not as worried about leveling it out.

Cant wait to see before and after shots!

Did you talk to Slee before you chose your shop?

I knew of this shop just because they have been there forever, it seems. But when I was talking with Dustin at FN as were looking at doing some deal with lifts as well, he had asked the owner of ToyTec about them and he enthusiastically endorsed them for this kind of work (and referred me to their "Toyota guy"). I don't know "Slee"...so no.

They have the VERY latest 3D digital alignment and balancing gizmos so I hope they are able to set it up just right. Of course, if the tires are whacked physically, that's another story. We'll see this afternoon!

Sure hope they call SOON so I can avoid the nasty-ass rush hour over there on Santa Fe heading back North as I need to.
