TPMS issue

so recently i got this tpms (yellow flat tire symbol) on my dash. so i go to read all 5 tpms (spare) and i'm only able to read 2/5 with my autel ts408. okay so i go out and get 5 new autel mx-sensors.

since i can't read the other 3 oem tpms, i have the shop replace all 5 tpms and i read off the hex ID on each of the oem tpms (printed on the oem tpms). i then program each of the 5 hex ID's onto the new tpms.

great everything works :dancin:

so here's the problem.. everytime i drive the yellow tpms comes on again. but it usually turns off after driving a few miles. so what gives. shouldn't the car pick up the status of each tpms right away? why does it take a few miles for the tpms warning to go away? why does it even happen?

On some things when you replace such items it sometimes take the computer/s on these 4Runners a week or more to adjust to the new input from new parts.

The issue should solve itself after a bit of time, it's the same/similar to when you disconnect the battery, the computer starts over learning how the 4Runner is being operated, i.e. adjusting/learning input from how the driver drives the vehicle.

If it persists after a couple of weeks or so then you indeed most likely have a issue with the sensors and computer/s communications, at that point I would first try disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds and give it the time as mentioned above to see if that solves it, you will also have to reset the windows/sunroof, etc., you can find how to do so from a search of the forum.

So is it possible you have a low tire that warms up above the low limit after a few miles of driving? I use Techstream to monitor TPMS, you can read all sensors outputs as the car sees them.

Better man than me. Mine started flashing. So I by passed it all together. Only time it ever went off was cold days and it was my spare. Happened prob 5 times.

When it was non stop flashing I knew it went bad.

yea i was thinking same thing. 14yr old ecu may need some time to adjust. i'll do a full disconnect tonight and see if it helps

when i read the tpms id's it also shows the temp/pressure. these values look to be within range but still shows the error on the dash. i'm wondering if this brand does not sync with the ecu as fast as the oem brand pacific? i read somewhere it usually every 30 - 60 sec?

i'm the same way too. i stared at the flashing tpms warning everyday for almost a week before i ordered the autel and tpms's. my spare had the same issue like 5yrs ago. now at 14yrs old, all the batteries on the tpms are completely drained :rofl:
