Tpms light won’t go off

I recently bought a 2004 4Runner limited 4wd. I had all 5 tpms sensors checked at discount tire. I was told that they were good. The tpms light on the dash will not go out. I disconnected the battery and crossed they cables for 30seconds. Reconnected the battery and the tpms light is still on. Ideas. Thanks. Phil

Do you have the correct tire pressure in all tires (including the spare)? Recommended tire pressure is 32 psi. Check them with an air pressure gauge.

Thank you for the replies.

I had searched the files and had spent a long time trying to figure out a solution. That is why I had Discount check all of the sensors, drove around for a couple of hundred miles thinking that it was a reset issue. That is why I disconnected the battery and crossed the positive and negative cables. I will recheck the pressure in each of the tires, including the spare, again. Maybe I will get lucky. ps this is our 4th 4Runner, we now have 2 x 2003 V8 4WD SR5 and 2 x 2004, one V6 4WD SR5 and one V8 4WD Limited. We have never had a TPMS issue with the other three.

Might need to get the TPMS sensor serial numbers re-uploaded to the ECU.
Are they Toyota/Denso sensors, or cloned units?

unless you are someone that never checks the pressure, and relies on the nanny technologies, then just bypass it, and call it a day. there are many threads on how to do it. I plan to do mine when I get the new wheels and tires. Just going to go with regular stems.

They have their ups and down. Like when my rear tire was going flat because I hit a nail at 80 mph and there was no discernible difference in handling, I slowed down and pulled off the freeway before shredding the tire thanks to the light.

Sometimes the nannies are good, sometimes people get too comfortable with relying on them. That being said, I haven't had TPMS in my tires in over a year now and really need to do the bypass so I can turn the light off.
