TPMS Problems.

I just had the "new to me' 2005 4runner in to have all the fluids changed and to try and eliminate the flashing TPMS light. The place I use is a tire dealer so they had the usual non-dealer TPMS equipment available on the market. They were able to tell me that all the sensors are "awake and functioning correctly but the stupid light is still flashing!!!
I am open to suggestions as to possible causes or cures but realize this may require a trip to the $tealer.
I have read it will trip OBD codes but are they readable via my AutoXray scanner?

Sorry to hear that. I've heard that flashing means an issue with a sensor or the computer. If its steady it means air is low. Make sure you spare is full, that has been my issue more than once, but it was always a steady light.\

Unfortunately the only way I know to directly communicate and program the TPMS is via the factory scantool...

I had a sensor go bad last month too. Solid light, turned out to be passenger rear sensor. You have to take it in if all air pressure is correct.

Did you check the spare? It's usually the one that sets it off and everyone forgets about.

is the TPMS standard on all of the 4th gen's? just checking if my 04 sport should be equiped with this option or not. i just bought the rig and theres no owners manual...

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know if the sensors are interchangeable ie. 07 FJ sensors on 04 4runner?

My TPMS light has been on for roughly two years. I've tried resetting it, inflating all the tires to the proper PSI, including the spare, but I continue to get the steady light.

Well, I just bought a new set of tires (FWIW, Michelin LTX M/S2) at America's tire and paid the extra $3.99 per tire for the "TMPS rebuild" for each tire. I asked the tech repeatedly if they would be able to reset the light and he assured me they would.

Needless to say the light hasn't gone off. I took it back there a few days ago and they to their credit spent a lot of time looking at it and running diagnostics on it. Basically, they said the rear driver-side tire has a busted sensor.

They wanted to try to charge me $99 for a new sensor. Of course I said no way. They then said they could do it for $50 and I still objected. I asked them what did I pay $3.99 for and they gave me some run-around gobbly-gook canned answer.

Anyways, I'm fine with the light being on as long as it doesn't effect the performance of the tires. I'll manage by just keeping a closer eye on my tires.
