TPMS removal without the tire shop?

I have a spare set of rims and tires that I want to sell...

These rims also have some TPMS sensors on them which I would like to keep.

Is it possible to remove these things without removing the tire off the rim? For example deflate completely and stand on one end to gain access?

I prefer to avoid the tire shop as its eating into my resale.

It's possible but not an easy thing to do breaking a tire bead loose from a rim without a tire machine.

It can be done standing on the tire while striking the tire with a sledge hammer but you risk damaging the rim if you hit the rim while doing so.

If you can get your frame high enough to place the tire under there and use a bottle jack to apply the pressure has worked for me a well.

TPMS have batteries in them that are not replaceable

they only last 4-5 yrs and the battery goes dead, reusing them isnt worth it unless they are no more then 1-2 years old because of the battery life thing.

I use a hilift to break the bead on my Jeep tires. Usually to clean the bead after being aired down. Easy to do. Easy to reseat the bead. It's also easy to get hurt if you are not paying attention.

As mentioned, if the sensors are beyond two years old its not worth your time. Check Rockauto for new sensors.
