TPMS replacement

The valve stem on my TPMS is damage. Is it possible to replace the valve stem only? Cant access the hex screw with any know driver.
My is Pacific.

If its one piece, can I purchase another TPMS with the same FCC ID PAXPMV1017 and install it WITHOUT programing it?

Depending on what exactly has the damage you might be able to just repack the TPMS. They have o-rings on them that can be replaced. Any tire place would be able to do that for you instead of replacing the whole unit.

If the stem itself is damaged beyond just repacking it then you'll need to replace the unit. Again a tire place should be able to replace and reprogram it for you if you do not want to deal with the hassle of doing it yourself.

There are electronic tools required to program a new TPMS which would easily cost more than taking it in.

They say my stem is crack at the base. That explains the slow leak I have been getting. I thought about the rebuild kit...but that doesnt come with a new metal stem. Looking at the sensor+stem, it appears to be one unit..

I found a use TMPS sensor with stem for 12.00 on EBAY. HAS the same FCC ID number. I was planning to buy that... If its the same FCC ID#, do you still have to program it to the ECM? Or would my ECM recognize the TMPS because same FCC ID

Sorry I'm not sure. I replaced the units on my Subaru and my car is not picking them up. I haven't really tried to fix it yet but was told they would pick up after driving it a bit. They were wrong. Not sure how the Toyota is.

You can save money by going with an aftermarket TPMS sensor, they are like half the price of the dealer units.

I have WURTH aftermarkets sensors and they were cloned to match the factory ID of the Toyota original sensors. You can do the same for the one sensor you need and the TPMS computer wouldn't know any difference,


Additionally, one could outfit an entire second set of wheels/tires for winter or offroad or whatever, have all the new sensors cloned to the originals, and whenever you swap the sets the computer wouldn't' need to be reset/re-learned/reprogrammed since all the ID's would be the same.



Silver4RunnerIS300: I believe Subaru's require a computer reset of the TPMS system when the sensors are changed, any reputable tire shop should have the scan tool to do it.
