TPMS Techstream Help/Questions

OK, So I have the techstream program and cable.

Within the Techstream software it will show ID1-5(each sensor) and show the voltage as "under" or "Over" some set threshold I assume. So I'm assuming if it states "over" the battery is good and if it states "under" the battery is toast and time for replacement.
I have a TPMS sensor that is showing to have over voltage, so I'm assuming it is good, but it is not registering, or "showing data"(temp shows -40 and pressure shows N/A). Any ideas? It's acting as if the 7 digit serial number is not correct but I can't see how this would be??? Is the 7 digit number shown on the sesnor body? or do you have to have an RF reader to pick up the number via RF signal? I have used casue/effect to narrow down the wheels to determine where the sesnor is, I guess I could unmount tire and check body of sesnor to see if number is etched on it and is correct to what the ECU is looking for?

Ideas?

The techstream also has a function to "check Signal" but my software errors out each time I try to do this step. Anyone else having these problems?

Its best to use an TPMS tool that talks to the sensors to pull data from them, this will include stuff like temperature, battery life (according to the sensor), pressure, and FCC ID. Otherwise you're going to have to pop the tires off to get a look at the sensor for its FCC ID.

If its showing -40 degrees its a default setting for a non-communicating or non-registered sensor. You can make the sensors wake up by letting out about 6psi or so of air from the tire as a sort of quick cheat to see if it is communicating.
