Trabuco/holy jim trail clean up

So I was out there this weekend at the holy jim trail and I couldn't help but notice how much trash is littering that trail. Its pretty gross that so many people can care so little about something that we all get to use. I feel like if something isn't done the environazis will do what they always do and blame the off road community because of course its our fault, ya know because we're the only ones who use the trail So I was wondering if my fellow socal people would be willing to get together and clean it up.

Great idea, i would gladly volunteer myself but ive been working 7 days a week as of late. But if no one steps up with you dont let that stop you. Almost every trail ride i go on solo ill bring a few trash bags and pick up whatever i see along the way. It makes for a longer day but is definately worth it knowing thats less ammo for people to use to get a trail closed

Was thinking the same thing myself not too long ago. The staging area alone is ridiculous. I could bring my Tacoma so we have a bed for the trash bags and could also deposit the trash at the dump.

I was thinking August 1st would be good, I'm busy with work and family stuff this weekend and next weekend. Its a Saturday so hopefully people could make it out. Or it could be discussed further so we could come up with a date that works for multiple people.

It's not really "up there" It's a short fire road off a paved road that leads to the Holy Jim hiking trail.

Holy Jim Trail - Dirtopia, the Off-Road Encyclopedia

Trabuco Creek Road is the actual road that leads up to the hiking trail. The first half of it is graded dirt which makes it easy for the standard passenger vehicle to get up the road. The second half of it is a little rougher. Doable for for a passenger vehicle, but clearance can become an issue.

edit: You might be thinking Main Divide. The entrance to that is off the 15/Ortega HWY. Still need to check that one out myself.

I live near by, I know its a few months late however, every time I head back there I cant help but pick up all the garbage.

Recently I have been hiking up to the falls with breakfast and a trash bag, Any chances T4R guys are getting a group together soon-ish?

Supposed to rain this weekend and for the most part I think the pot holes were keeping most of the trash out of the canyon. May be a few weeks until I'm able to get back out there but I'm always down for a trash pickup run.

Definitely makes it harder for the cars to get back there. I heard they already graded it and that eventually they're talking about paving it. It's already frustrating trying to get cars that don't belong up there to move over and let me go.

from my understanding... the main road is for public use, however anyone wandering off the road onto the run side runs is liable for fines as this is trespassing (never heard of a real ticket issued) I have found lots of "hippies" who just wanna park it on the road and smoke (they wont go off onto a trail)

the roads are constantly abused and for us who use it as recreation it is just fun, but those who live way back in the canyon cannot stand it.

I spoke to the owner of the tiny house at the top of the trail (just before the walking only trail) and he has had to upgrade tires & lift his VW vanagon just to be able to to get in and out.

I have been exploring new driving options due to this recently.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I don't tear through there anymore like I did in my early 20s. It was a lot quieter back there in those days. It's become a main stream road now and unfortunately the majority of society as we know it don't have a whole lot of respect for it. I know way back in the day the guys with the cabins up there used to pay to maintain the road so they could get up and down it. Dude up at the top is a fire fighter I believe.
