Tracking down interior rattles

FlyNavy thats it the ac compressor!!! if you find a fix let us know it's been driving me crazy since I bought my 4R once I get that fix my truck is perfect:banana:

Still haven't found it. Try removing your in-cabin filter and checking the centrifuge-like fan for dried leaves and debris, as these things will also cause strange noises when the fan is on.

BTW, that damn thing is noisy. I've been in very few cars where you could hear the fan and motor at the lowest setting.

The rattle is under the dash and is at its worst when the truck is cold, the idle RPM is up and you drop it into drive. At that point the rattle begins. Sounds plastic on plastic or a wire bundle.

rattles

Flynavy is right it's the fan motor and it's loud when the the truck is cold and it is plastic on plastic sound tried looking with flash light but could not narrow it down :redbrick:

Rattle under passenger side dash when in gear and at idle, especially when AC compressor kicks on.

Driver side seatbelt buckle squeaks. WTF?

Both are very bothersome when radio is off, as is the wet shoe brake sound.

Toyota, C'mon Man!

Can't speak to the rattle sound, but the wet shoe brake sound is normal. Been discussed adnausiom in the past, do a search. I think I started the thread back in March of 2010. I took mine back to the dealer and confirmed it was normal. (Both the tech explained it too me as to why and I tried two other rigs on the lot, all had the same brake sounds). It has to do with the brake assist system of Toyota and the "pumps" proximity to the fire wall in the 4 runner vs. other models which had the same system. At least that is what I was told.
