I just recently picked up a 2003 ltd 4runner and am wondering some basic features. I am told when driving thru deep mud you want a certain amount of wheelspin . In our vehicles how do you achieve this being we have traction control? I just want to learn and I know you guys have the answers to when and when not to use certain features in our vehicles .

Locking the Center Diff will disable VSC and allow wheel spin.

A number of us have also done this mod to allow disabling VSC w/out locking the center diff. Fairly easy mod but does require attention to detail

I have just been told that when driving thru mud wheel spin is good for momentum . so in saying that does this mod make sense ? it is just for when im driving thru deep mud . thanks for your replies . mutch appreciated

I think what you refer to hearing, people really mean. "Don't stop just to stop in thick mud, stay moving!
