What tires did you decided on?

I'm looking at either the Toyo MT that you have or the Duratrac but I'm leaning toward the Duratrac. They just look cool. I have a set of Toyo from Les Schwab on my 85 pick-up that also need to be replaced (6 years old now) so I really am torn, as the Toyo tires are just as good.

Truck looks good, congratulations. I would go with the duratracs unless you off road more than you drive pavement. It would be a shame to waste the good mileage and smooth ride on tires that are more aggressive than you need. just my 2 cents.

SeattleMike...definitely have a chameleon there with the color...all of those shots are flattering as far as I'm concerned.

$50 each for the old ones, and I kept the spare tire stock. I went to Discount Tire but I wasn't really trying to haggle over price as I wanted them ASAP. The manager called me back the next day and suggest that the "C" rated were just fine for a 4Runner, that the "E" rated were overkill. I declined and he let it go after a half-hearted attempt to BS me about ply count and weight limits. He called this morning to let me know the tires that were "going to take a week to get" had arrived 2 days after I placed a deposit.

I know others got a better deal in other places, but they matched the price the Goodyear dealer quoted me for each tire ($225) and I had budgeted $1200 prior to buying the 4Runner, so getting them for $825 works for me. Besides, I get free lifetime spin balancing and rotation which means they are going to see lots of me.

They inflated it to 40 and I haven't bothered to change it yet. The ride is a bit more lively than with the stock tires but I was just driving along a gravel lake shore and, after switching the MTS to Sand/Mud/Snow and popping it into 4HI, I zipped right along without leaving too many tracks behind. I think I made the right choice.

How Manly? Its not caveman colors, its a great shade of blue that changes its color depth depending on the lighting and weather.

I love mine and not a day goes by that I dont get compliments on how great it looks on or off base.

These were all taken with a Canon PowerShot SD950 IS, and my monitor is calibrated as closely as I can possibly get to exactly matching what I see on screen with what I took. Other than resizing for loading here, the pictures have not been enhanced in anyway.

To my eye, this is the most accurate representation of the true color:

Obviously, the pics from the Toyota website were not take with this paint. There is too much purple tint to the real color and no amount of after-the-fact editing is going to turn what I have into what they show on the website. Either they are using a different primer color now and it's affecting the color, or they are using a different paint... or both.

In any case, you won't be setting off anyone's gaydar by picking this color.

It really comes down to I DONT CARE what color I just want to get my 4Runner. All the colors look good in book.

The Shoreline Blue and the Salsa Red both seem to do a fair bit of color shifting. The other three options are all pretty consistent.
