Maybe invest in a pair of sunglasses? it helps me immensely during summer months.

I always wondered what all you guys were complaining about with the hood glare. Never noticed it in 4.5 years with my TE... Until I got a new pair of non-polarized sunglasses late this fall and hit the road for AZ over Christmas. Pulled out of Vegas (heading SE) right as the sun was coming up and BAM, the dreaded hood glare! Didn't have my old polarized sunglasses with me so had to suffer through it with my new frames with Black Iridium lenses...

Since most of the major highways in SLC run north and south I do have limited experience with driving east in the early morning and west in the evenings, but after doing a little testing with both pairs of glasses once we got home, I'm pretty sure that a nice (or even cheap) pair of polarized glasses would cure that case of the hood scoop glare right up for those of you that love your hood scoop but hate the glare. Just be prepared for the display on your stereo/entune/nav display (or your watch or iPhone for that matter) to look a little different depending on how you tilt your head...

that tacoma hood scoop looks about twice as big as ours.. height wise.. so i wouldn't expect that same Rigid LED to work in ours.

Yep. Much taller scoop it appears. I think teh 4runner still can be done, but we'll probably need to disassemble the light and make our own housing/mounts. Should be doable with some fiberglass and a little ingenuity. Not sure when I'll get to it, but I would like to do this. Maybe I'll get really creative with an arduino and make it cycle like the nightrider when the doors unlock? Not sure if I'll ever find time to waste on that though. It would be cool though.

Scoop Insert Color

Does anyone know if 7618135902 "Scoop" (Assembly Part # 18 in parts dwg) come in body color (specified at time of order), or if it would need to be painted to match?

Why has no-one mounted some LED driving lights in the hood scoop yet? Seems like it's just waiting for them.

Wow. My comment lives again. I've learned to live with it as I figured I'd hurt the resale of it, if it was switched. Plus my hood has lots of dings in it now.

I have a 2015 trail and have heard lots (and was a little anxious) about the glare from the scoop. I have driven the truck for two months now and have never once been blinded by glare off the scoop. Maybe I've been lucky, maybe it's because I'm tall, maybe because I wear nice polarized sunglasses. I've never once regretted the hood and I like the way it looks.

I'm not arguing for or against, just saying that it's not a blinding failure of automotive design.

If you like how it looks - go for it!

I agree. I;have done 20,000 miles on a 2016 I bought in December. 15Kmiles in the SE and 5K in the 4 corners area. June in Utah and AZ .No Issue with reflection. But I am 6-1 and a good squinter
