Trail hood scoop.

I know it's unlikely, but I'll throw this out here and see if there are any responses. If anyone in the denver area wants to trade their barcelona red hood with scoop for my SR5 hood just let me know! It's brand new, less than 200 miles on the truck. I'll do the swap myself and give you $100.

I think in the entire 5th gen forum there has only been one documented hood swap with anther member. It was Antman and somebody else in his build thread. It's like a rare Pokemon.

I was doing a basic search and saw a few matte black aftermarket options for dirt cheap that may work.

I'm about to buy a SR5 Premium before the ugly 2017's come out, but I really want the looks of the Trail. I can change the Front Bumper from reading up on it here, but what about the Scoop? I understand the glare you guys are talking about, but I want it. Do I need a whole new hood for it?

I'm a IT guy, so I'm kinda new to car modding. Thanks!

2017 looks exactly the same as 2016. Only thing is the trail is now called the trd off road.

You will have to buy one from the dealer and have it painted (entire hood with scoop assembly) or find someone on here that will trade with you.

I wear sun glasses. I have had some glare. Non issue if you are asking me.

The hood scoop glare is over-exaggerated. Yes, it happens occasionally but if I stand in my backyard and stare at the sky towards the east eventually I get glare in my eyes there too.

I'd never give up my TE or it's hood scoop. It looks great.

I have a 2015 trail and have heard lots (and was a little anxious) about the glare from the scoop. I have driven the truck for two months now and have never once been blinded by glare off the scoop. Maybe I've been lucky, maybe it's because I'm tall, maybe because I wear nice polarized sunglasses. I've never once regretted the hood and I like the way it looks.

I'm not arguing for or against, just saying that it's not a blinding failure of automotive design.

If you like how it looks - go for it!

I've had mine since Dec, so granted, a lot of my driving has not been when it's super sunny. Though in eastern WA state we've had a ton of sun the last couple months and I have literally not seen any glare on it as of yet. we'll see how it is the rest of the summer.

I have owned my 2016 MGM TEP for a year now (18K+ miles) and not once have I been blinded by glare off the scoop.

It's sunny in Texas a lot so we came up with these things called sunglasses. You guys who are having problems should try them out sometime.

I've seen the dreaded glare a few times, but not often enough to hate it. However, I do hate how much it limits your forward visibility when you're concerned about tire placement. IMO it should have been installed on the SR5, and not the Trail/TRD.

There are some desert trails where I absolutely could not see out the windshield due to glare off the hood. The scoop just gives us TE owners 2 opportunities to be blinded.
This is a mild example.
