Trail Lower valance front/rear removal

Hello all,

I'm thinking about painting my lower valances black with plastidip or matte black like the TRD Pro. Has anyone removed them before with the bumpers still on? Is it hard to do, any advice etc. I tried two weeks ago to paint it with them on still but started and didn't like how it was starting to turn out.

I looked at the rear one and it looks like there is two pull tab style. Is there any on the top that are also there or is it just these two? Any help is appreciated.

The front can be done with bumper still attached. But you have to be able to contort your hand 3 directions at the same time. Probably best to remove the bumper though.

As for the rear. Yes you must remove the bumper.

I did the front with the bumper on, took about 10 minutes after removing the plastic piece underneath. The rear you take the bumper off for, but it takes about 5 minutes to do that. There are 13 clips in the front and 14 in the rear holding the valances on. I recommend just buying the Pro valances, they look great for $290 bucks.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I read on here that Toyota decided to stop selling the TRDP parts without a TRDP VIN #.

I think that was just the Pro wheels. You can still get the valances from Toyota dealerships and online shops.

Well the part they were specifically talking about in the post I saw was the TOYOTA bumper trim piece and upper grille. Again, I don't know if that was legit.

I just bought the Rims from a dealer without a Vin this week, I know back in January they wanted it.

Thanks for the info, I have removed the front bumper to install the Rago Fabrication brackets so the rear can't be that hard. Looks like I got a solid Saturday/Sunday project.

I called for a quote on the TRD wheels and they didn't care that I couldn't provide my VIN. They said they'd need to order them. About 215.00 a pop. I went with the FN Pro style wheels since they are lighter, wider and a little cheaper.
