Bee Canyon 5S09 - Hemet to Pine Cove
Hey guys, its been a while since I've taken an active role on the forums. I recently wrapped up a bachelor's degree and started an MBA, albeit half time. Needing to escape and with the fantastic weather, I planned a family day-trip to Idyllwild.
Bee Canyon showed to be "More Difficult" at the beginning of the trail, just east of Hemet. The first portion from SR74, past the shooting areas, and up to the water crossing, was a bumpy ride despite airing down. The road has not been regraded since the last storms came through. This and having the kids onboard required 5-10 mph speed for the first leg of the trip. Erosion was present in varying levels, but my stock TE's body only bottomed out on its tail.
The water crossing...yes there is actually running water here during an epic California drought. Who woulda thought? Though the flow is not nearly as strong as our last run up a couple of years ago, springs still maintain a stream. The dog and kids played for a couple of hours and had a blast, the water was crystal clear before they got there. I truly recommend taking the family here, its a fantastic picnic spot.
The remainder of the trip was a beautiful pine forest drive up to Pine Cove. The last leg of the trail showed very little erosion and allowed a quicker pace. There were only three dirtbikes and a handful of jeeps sharing the trail throughout.
Shopping in Idyllwild is busy this weekend. We ate dinner at the Mile High Cafe, which was great. Its great how dog friendly everyone is up there. I hope everyone has a safe Labor Day weekend.

to help with my approach angle and maybe a little extra clearance. I'm planning on doing more trail runs and some camping to get the family out of the house more often.
