Seems silly but after attaching a Curt wiring harness trying figure out where to poke the wires though to the underside of the vehicle. I took out the trim piece along the back and expected to see a grommet which. I could fish wire through to attach to my hitch but don't see it. Looked at the instructions online and for this year 02' make and model it says to keep it inside the vehicle and pull out to use and the rubber seal will protect the wires. Seems strange and I'm not opposed to drilling and installing a grommet but thought I'd ask here first. Thanks for your input.

Is this a 4 wire kit? Did your 02 came with the tow package?
If so you need to remove the rear trim on the floor where the gate is. You will find the rubber grommet in either of the 2 holes under the carpet.
If it didn't come with the tow package the wiring kit never goes inside. There is a connector on the rear driver side underneath. Just remove the plug and insert the harness connector and route your wiring appropriately.
Can you take a picture?
