Tranny cooler radiator bypass

Okay I've read the other threads involving this but I want to be sure.
And I also know the 3rz Isent known to get the pink milkshake like the 5vz.
I installed my b&m supercooler 70268 yesterday and did not bypass the radiator , then after starting thinking that I would have to bypass the radiator to avoid the milkshake right? I've got a really clean install so I can easily just move the hose over to byPass if I need to.
Should I bypass the radiator or not?

are you still using the original radiator? or have you replaced it with a new oem or oem equivalent like a koyo?
 
Unless you plan on replacing the radiator, bypass it. Its cheap insurance to prevent the milkshake. If you end up replacing the radiator down the line, then you can reconnect in-line if you want.

i agree here. the bypass honestly is a bandaid fix i i were you i would replace the radiator. since it is probably the original one. unless you know it has been replaced before. 100 bucks for a koyo sure beats 1000 for a tranny.
 
I replaced my stock Radiator with my Koyo. There was too much debate about bypassing, and from my perspective the arguments were about even. I just went ahead and bought a Koyo and was done with it. Although keep in mind, you might have to buy a new radiator cap. My stock one didn't fit, and I had to find a special one sold at Napa because the one I bought at Autozone didn't fit either.
 
If I were you man I would replace to radiator and keep both hooked up together. I currently am running a trans cooler with the radiator bypassed and my temps seem to be a little high so I am going to replace the radiator soon and run both to see how that does.
 
Thanks for all the advice and heads up guys.
I just decided to bypass it and just got done doing it right now. I think ill spend that 100 on a koyo radiator in the near future and run them together.
For now i need to focus on my valve adjustment ive been needing to do and my LBJ's haha

Good choice man. After seeing what has happen to a couple people on here when their LBJ's fail I would get those done very soon.
 
Bypass fo sho! The external cooler provides plenty of cooling power by itself and you completely avoid the dreaded pink milkshake.
 
+1 for bypass, and if you are registering high temps after that, install another tranny cooler! Whole point is to avoid the milkshake!
 
You did the right thing - atl least until you get a new rad. I replaced a perfectly good, but 12 year old, rad in mine a few months ago. Decided for me that a separate cooler wasnt necessary but didnt want to push my luck on the shake with an old rad.
 
Bypass it and don't ever go back. The only 100% guarantee against ever getting the milkshake is to bypass it. The minute you hook the trans cooler back into the radiator you put yourself at possible risk for the milkshake again.

This poll should be 100% of the votes for the bypass. There is no argument whatsoever that will convince me that bypassing the radiator isn't the best option.

Because an old trans cooler wont fail right? :bash: No milkshake I guess.

Failed radiators are due to a lack of maintenance.
