trans swap 5 for 5

iv got a 87 4runner with what i expect is a W56 trans, can other transmissions bolt up in its place? I found a R150F out of a 3.0, also 5 speed top shift. Also my brother told me to get a "T5" transmission?

No the r150F out of a 3.0 will not work. Unless you find a super rare r151F bell housing from a 22rte pickup.

A T5 is a Ford Tranny...?

This link has some good info on trannys. Any that came behind a 22r (e) should swap in fairly easily.

I happen to have a toyota 5 speed tranny for sale... But I dont want to ship it, so that would be a heck of a drive. Haha

If you have a 22RE engine you have a W56 trans.
Around 89 the W56 was changed to mate to a forward shift t-case. It would still bolt-up and work but you'd need the t-case too.
