Transfer case damper Fix/Band-aid...

Hey guys, I had a bad Transfer Case Damper that was clanking around and making noise. I removed it opposed to paying $300+ for a new one at the dealership. I had a slight vibration that was noticed in the transfer case shift handle at freeway speed. I decided to make a silicone insert that would get my damper up and working again so I could reinstall it and see if it really did anything.

After installing my fixed up damper again Im not having the slight vibration at higher speeds and whats even better is no annoying clanking sound when I plow over bumps.

What do you think about this??? Is it a half ass band-aid, a cheap fix or a little of both?

If it works it works right? I removed my damper a few thousand miles ago because I got sick of hitting my head on it and never noticed a difference with it there or not

I like it does the job I'm sure you had materials around that's good. When mine started to break away I used two 3/8" x 16" zip ties x pattern cut excess off. What can I say it worked lol.

What about just unbolting it and moving on with your life?

I am trying to track down a very specific vibration in the drivetrain and if this fix worked and held I would invest some time into it. If not then I’m going to look elsewhere. Sure, I could unbolt it and move on but if it doesn’t help then I’m still stuck somewhere between the torque converter and the transfer case.
