transfer case shifter seal 3.4l MTM

I mentioned this is my boring clutch writeup, but it deserves its own thread I think.


I ordered this power steering seal https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/precision/precision-oil-seal/ope0/221510/

Because it also comes up as a transfer case shifter seal
Application for Your Vehicle Transfer Case Shift Shaft Seal: Aisin RF1A, VF1A

I had my doubts, and didn't notice the dimensions before ordering it. It looks perfect except its only an inch in diameter, so it certainly doesn't fit in the shifter sub assembly "neck"

Does it fit somewhere else on the shifter, or is this just a mistaken application?

Lastly and most importantly, is there anywhere else besides Marlin that sells the correct TRANSFER case shifter seal? It seems most people find nothing or just a flat rubber washer when they open it up, and that's all I found.

LCEngineering, Yota Master....but you'll prob find they all selling the Marlin part.
It works, and works well and costs less than a couple beers.
Mine had the rubber washer thingy and I replaced it w/ the Marlin....it has never worked better. Effortless.

Where did you get that part number you plugged into Oreilly's?

I don't mind the 12 dollar cost, but I mind paying another 11 dollars for shipping it and that's what Marlin said it would cost. I will check those other 2 places and see if they have better shipping options.

The Oreilly's store looked up that part number for me, and I had to see in writing with my own eyes that it was intended for my transfer case before I had them order it. I had my doubts and it seems they were well founded.
