Transmission Cooler Advice

I am going to add on a stand alone transmission cooler on my 1997 V6 as my lines are leaking and I'm going to be down under there anyway.

I have a coupon for Advance Auto and they sell the Imperial brand made by Haydn. I called Haydn tech support and they told me I can use the #243008 Maxi-KoolXL which is 3/4" x 9.5" x 11" (104.5sq.in.) or the # 240514 Imperial High Performance 3/4" x 7.5" x 15.5" (116.25sq.in.)

I was told that the transmission itself has the thermostaic valve built in so I will not need to add one, true?

Also, any idea which will fit better? I'd like to go with the larger one as I will be doing some light towing in the summer.

I was also told they come with everything needed to install it, true?

I would go with the B&M 70264 and you may need more hose. I don't know what the kit you're looking at comes with but from my experience and others they usually don't come with quite enough.

x2 on the b&m. dont forget to add atf. Just do a drain and fill while you are at it.

I probably wasn't clear in my first post but I have a coupon from Advance Auto for $50 and they only sell the Imperial brand so that's what I'm going to get, just wondering if anyone has info on them.

OK, so after taking care of the brakes on my 2 other trucks and going through a hurricane and a nor'easter I am finally going to get around to the 4Runner.

Decided to take your advice and go with a B&M 70264, how much more hose should I order and what size?

you'll need another 3-4 ft of 3/8" trans hose, the kit comes with 4 ft of 3/8" hose.

the hayden ones arent plate type, they are just tube and fins, kinda crappy. I had to use one when waiting on my B&M to come in as the threads on teh radiator were stripped and leaking. it was a huge difference in quality between the two. They can specal order you parts at the store so you can still use your coupon

That coupon is long gone used on brakes for the other trucks. Who has the best pricing for the B&M? Advance won't order it.

Check amazon, ebay, also there was someone selling one on here in the classifieds.
